    We boarded our ship!!!
    small but nicely laid out..except for the SMALL bsthroon! Had to squat to shave me legs!,,

    aug 10 - we had a laid back day..just cruising today!

    aug. 11 - morning of sailing, then in the afternoon, a trip to Castelo Rodrigo..11th century church, a place for pilgrims to stop at. And a not so great wine tasting!,, but we persevered!

    trouble trying to upload pictures,...will try later if a better wifi connection :(

    ... though it is visibly poorer. There are no big names stores or glamorous barrios. More buildings are empty, their facades maintained while the interiors collapse. But the streets are busy and steep down to the river, and the shops bustling. The waterfront of the Douro is beautiful, and tourism is thriving.     The weather was pretty terrible today so didn't do very much. It is great that we are in an apartment. Relaxing on the couch with a nice cup of tea is much better that being in a hotel room.     ... plate of snacks with the beers that they said were for free! Like a tapas plate I suppose, but they were all meat, so I left them for Darren! I got a Portuguese dish called a Francesinho, which was basically a salad sandwich covered in melted cheese, and surrounded by chips and a gravy-ish sauce. Pretty unhealthy, but it was pretty tasty!
