    ... and crossed the river. Very interesting views.

    We spent the afternoon wandering around the town which is fascinating as there is architecture dating back many centuries.

    In the evening enjoyed a wonderful grilled seafood meal in the fishing village.

    On Sunday we went back to Porto and enjoyed some of the local dishes recommended to us by the newspaper kiosk man.

    The sun is shining and we got moving. Off we went downtown by shuttle, travelled up the funicular and started walking. There were many things to see. Tile covered churches, theatres, the train station, the market and of course a city festival.

    Oporto, known locally as Porto, is a thriving industrial centre and Portugal's second largest city. In 2001 the city, whose historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site, was the European Capital of Culture.
