Hey all! first off I have added another link of pics on the update before this one since this entry is dedicated to Panama only so check it out. So here's the scoop with me medically, since that IS the reason I came down here. I arrived on Feb. 13th via plane and Greg met up with later that day after his 30 (no i'm not kidding, 30) hour bus ride. I met with the PC doctor as well as the specialist the following day. I was scheduled for a CAT scan the following day and in the meantime given ani...
Panama City, Panama carrienica05Itīs 5:00. I have arrived at the hotel, checked into the room, and all is well. Flights were good, just the typical airport snafus, like in the Miami airport, having to go from D34 all the way to E10 to catch the train, and then being told to go all the way back to E1 to catch a bus because the trains were not functioning. The movie on the plane was Nights in Rodanth (Richard Gere). Glad we didnīt pay money to see that one in the theater. It was 37 degrees in Miami and when we arrived in Pana...
Panama City, Panama lstonehamSo the kick off of the Trip, a Friday night red eye flight from SFO to MIA (Miami, Florida) to PTY (Panama City, Panama) arriving early Saturday afternoon. Flight went fairly well, slightly delayed out of SF but had plenty of time to spare for my connecting flight in Miami. Unfortunately, an isle seat, which is nice, but can't lean into the corner and fall asleep. I guess there were some major bumps coming into PTY. What I found out later Panama City seems to have consistent thunder storms in...

... sea level, we are in Gatun Lake, continuing our Journey west (actually southeast, since the Canal runs from northwest-southeast). Another interesting fact is that if you stand on the Centre on Panama, you can actually see the sun rise over the Pacific Ocean and set over the Atlantic Ocean. Keep that for Trivial Pursuit.

Passing through Gatun Lake, we see several large ships passing us, heading towards the Atlantic, or ...
Panama Canal, Panama worldexplorer99... and headed out into the rain to share it while sitting under a mango tree and watching the water. The mangos would drop pèriodically, usually splitting upon impact, but Evan found one undamaged just as a man came by and taught us how to eat it "Monkey Style." What you do is squeeze the mango all over kneeding it with your hands until it is very squishy. If it has a hole it has a worm, so unless you need the protein leave that one for the birds. After ...

Panama City, Panama, Panama cmpotvin... the menu is set and so is the price. After arranging for a taxi twice- the first never showed up- we made it to Manolo Caracol. The trip through Casco Viejo was interesting. I don't recommend you walk around there at night. If we have time before Sunday we will check the area out during the day- the colonial architecture and restorations that the government is putting into these very old structures is worth seeing. Manolo Caracol is a fun ...
Panama City, Panama bgallagh... Norm Schayer and again the hosting was fabulous, the music great, and a good time was had by all. Sunday was the big day. It is hard to describe the beauty of this wedding., The flowers were amazing calil lillies, hydrogenas, roses, orchids, all in tones of off white to beige. The wedding party dresses were very becoming, and Evelyn's dress was the peak of good dressmaking. She looked just beautiful. The food was spectacular with ...
Los Olas, Panama sestrinNovember 18th, I had a nice quite day today. The weather is warm with heavy clouds. I took a walk through the Elfin forest. Which I might add was quite a workout. The hills are very steep here and after an hour and half walk I was tired. There were numerous birds and butterflies. I was hoping to see something a little more exotic like a snake or tarantula or even a wild cat. No such luck. Mike went too the Panama Canal Museum late ...
