      We had driven about 450 km on secondary roads doing around 80-90, so not to bad. At the camping they had two ponds, one with carpers and one with trouts. We ordered some trout with almonds for dinner which was beautiful and enjoyed our first night.       Today is wet and drizzle. We leave to day to go to Fontenay.just had brecky...so un exciting croissants,bread,jams,warm tea. We are so spoilt in NZ.! Showers were Luke warm. Quickest shower I ever had!. But I must admit these old buildings are so beautiful. Sleeping in them gives you a sense of what it was like. On the boat now. Had all our instructions issued. Girls have waddled off to do some shopping. Had to buy some yummy eclairs to eat on the way back ...

      This is our hotel room. Small and pokey. All these photos I called " from" is for Plombieres les-Bains.this is where the train took us from Dijon to Plombieres les-Bains. Beautiful old place. Lots of Roman features! Just come back from dinner. Very nice. Lou shouted a bottle of champagne to celebrate the start of our journey!. Weather a bit drizzle. Hope it clears up for our canal ...

      ... br> The next morning we were rested and ready for a day of hiking in the fresh mountain air. Philippe drove us up to the Vosges, about an hour outside of Epinal, where the tree covered mountain ranges reminded us of the BC coast!
