We arrived in Leon yesterday by bus from Burgos. We stayed an extra day to tour the area before starting the Camino tomorrow. This city has offered us an incredible lesson in history. We are currently staying in the original hospital built for the pilgrims on the Camino. Hospital was the word used for the place for pilgrims, meaning hospitality. It was erected as a convent of San Marcos, with a pilgrim house. The building has ...

... A few beers / coffee and we headed for the bus station. It was a quick 20 minute ride into Leon, 10 minute walk to our Hostal, shower, then out to drinks and dinner with our Irish friends - Joe and Deidre. We were all very tired, but it was a good night getting to know them, seeing a few familiar pilgrim faces around town, ANOTHER pilgrim meal, a nice bottle of red and bed! They had walked over 40kms so should've been ...

For the first 8.5 kms we are all walking together until we reach Valverde. At that point Tony, Bert, Jackie and Bill (the last two people we have met along the way and they have been in the same Hotel as us these past two nights) head toward Mazariffe, we head to Villadangos. Bill is a semi ...

... Leon seems very sophisticated with lots of shops and the residents more smartly dressed than most towns we have seen.
Had a couple of drinks at the bar next to the hotel and then dinner at the restaurant attached to the hotel. It was the best food we have had on the trail. We can sleep in tomorrow and have a leisurely breakfast before a bit more exploring and then out of town in the afternoon.
Time to doze off as it's after 11.30 and the boys need their beauty sleep. ...

... so off to bed and get that whip cracking early.

Oh........and I've had to pull my belt in on my pants to a place it's never been. It's ok at 55kgs so I am a little concerned. Will wear shirt out now, pants looks like they're too big if it's tucked in *laugh*. Can't believe! I'm eating 3 times normal including massive carbed food, because that's all you can get, 1-2 bottles of wine per day and still dropping weight. Should level itself out soon. ...
