... in the movie 'The Way' We were not really keen on eating in, I had a concern about cleanliness of the kitchen, but when we found that the only bar in town was not serving dinner and seemed to loath pilgrims we had to reconcile and ask Pedro if we could join. ... were a consequence of the housing bubble burst in 2008. I was told you could buy one of those apartments super cheap - 20,000 euro.... but why would anyone want to live there I am not sure. I guess that's why it's a ghost town. There were a few cars by the golf club, but other than that, it seemed there was only one car in the whole residential part of town. ... for merino wool. Meanwhile i was at the internet station (with vino) paying bills and doing some blogging. I should also mention that the woman in the cafe gave each of us a purple neck scarf. We weren't sure what to do with it, but I put it on.

... the cutbacks in social programs due to Spain's austerity budget. While not great art, the display was impactful - and the shoes are to be donated to the needy. Thee second site was a large gathering of police officers in the main plaza. Many of them had masks covering their faces. While there did not seem to be anything going on, it was a bit intimidating. I couldn't get a picture, though, as they cleared out before I could get far enough away to avoid a confrontation ...
