A week in Italy: Cinque Terre!!

... an hour for the direct train. We were tired of the rain so we hopped on the first train. Got off on the next stop, the correct station and waited briefly for the train to Riomaggiore. Due to our slip up we were now going to be stuck with our luggage for the rest of the afternoon since our hostel only allowed check in either before 1pm or after 4pm. It was 1:30pm when we arrived in Riomaggiore finally. Rain was in the forecast in Cinque Terre so we found some cover after exiting ...

Ahhh the blue, the blue blue ocean that calms me..

It's Saturday morning and I'm hitting up this internet cafe on my way through the begining of my day long hike through Cinque Terre.

I left San Fillippo yesterday with happy memories and sad steps. I really did enjoy so much about my stay there that I truly didn't want to leave, but alas my faithful readers needed something more excited to read so I have graciously decided to continue on this path of a new ...

A Boat Ride to Cinque Terre

... off tourists to 4 out of the 5 towns (the town of Corniglia is too high off the dock with cliffs too steep and thus appears untouched by time).

We enjoyed the salty Mediterranean and photo opportunities from boat, and got off at the southernmost village, Riomaggiore. There, we enjoyed a leisurely trek along the coast on the famous Via dell' Amore (Lovers' Lane ...

Cinque Terre - beauty, jellyfish and shemales!

... their first year guides should have someone experienced go along with them. We have even found a few occasions where the history or local information she has given us was incorrect, and sometimes we don’t even know what the group is supposed to be doing. I’m sure she was trying her best though.
After the talk Witek and I went and took our funny photos holding up the tower. Day 32- Losing Grip

... when we decide to come in for dinner. I have already accepted this fact and i have sunblock and lotion ready to try and prevent it as much as possible. The day after that we are just going to be traveling back to our places in Rome. Nothing really exciting... we are all just going to be hungry and tired lol. This weekend was so much fun. It may have been the highlight of the North trip. Being able to relax with friends is exactly what i needed right now.
... and taste very fresh. The menus always list tomatoes and cheese as toppings, and for a while I got tricked into buying three-topping pizzas which would be classified in America as one-topping (since tomato sauce and cheese are generally understood to be included). But I digress. After classes, my schedule varies greatly depending on the day. Like most students here, I sit at the on-site café and talk. Afterwards, I play soccer, do homework, meet people for ...

Tomorrow we land in Marseilles, where we have an excursion for the Château of the New Popes and Avignon. Ciao until then! Carol's Daily Recap Highlights: The Tower of Pizza, I mean Pisa! Fantastic Coastline in Northwest Italy!!

After discovering that a huge boat show was going on in Genova, when we arrived at 5:30 pm, (no rooms to be had), we jumped back on the train and got off in La Spezia on the beautiful Ligurian coast. We spent two glorious days in the warm sun, trekking along the steep, stepped cliffs over-looking five unique villages (Cinque Terre) and the sparkling Ligurian Sea. This Unesco World ...
