... lava from looking and feeling the shape and texture of them.

Next stop was just around the bay to the hot springs. The heat from below the surface on the edge of the island has basically formed a warm "bit" of the ocean. A quick dive off the boat and 100m swim in icy cold waters and we were soon both basking in the warmth of a volcano! It also spurts out red mud that if you put it all over yourself you'll become 10 years younger! Some dude there was trying to get his ...
Santorini, Cyclades, Greece markandnoma2009this trip was very special to me,because it was the first one after I finally finished with school and had the freedom to do everything I want, without anybody else controlling me!the only thing I wanted to do is find a nice place with great people to relax and so I did.i met many interesting people and it was a journey to remember!
Naxos, Cyclades, Greece malena.drela... the caldera in orange glow and creating the most relaxing & pretty atmosphere you can imagine.....even though this was our second time here, one never grows tired of the fabulous views across the crater from the hotels which almost cling to the cliff-face 700 feet above the blue water.

Food & a spot more shopping for t-shirts for the family (some shops do not close until as late as 11pm!) was now in order......the ...
Santorini, Cyclades, Greece oz09... We were basically the only ones at the restaurant lol, but it was good food and a good atmosphere (and free dessert again! I love the Greeks!!!) So the island, as I mentioned was pretty dead. But Ios is known as "the party island" and I'm sure it is during the normal summer season. So the 8 of us decided to bring it back to life. We had our own fun in the village, hung out with some hilarious locals, and had a really good time. The next morning we ...
Ios, Cyclades, Greece hahn105... say that the route to reach this beach is one of the two most interesting ones I have ever taken to reach a beach, the other being the Hippies’ Hidden Atlantis in Ibiza. To reach this beach by foot is an adventure in itself. We first walked quite a distance, which is not a problem at all as it was on flat land. Like the Virona Bay which we visited yesterday, Kartego Beach is ...
Folegandros, Cyclades, Greece xuanargi

25th August 2008 : Athens - Folegandros

We took a ferry from Athen's very busy Piraeus Port to Folegandros, a small island situated in the Aegean Sea. It is an island favoured by the Greeks for their vacations because it is less
touristy and more "Greek" in every sense.

We took a ferry called the FlyingCat 3 and it costs us EUR43 per person for a single trip. The ferry was very ...
Folegandros, Cyclades, Greece xuanargiWhile the days are fun and exciting, and never cease to make me seasick, they are not overly exciting...we sail from one island to another, occasionally stopping to swim, and sometimes motor if the wind dies down; thus, I'm mostly describing our late afternoon/nighttime activities. We docked in Ios and it seemed like a quiet little port area. Little did we know that it is "the" destination for underage Americans ...
Ios, Greece laurenandy... Everyone is really social, and after about 5 minutes we were befriended by two Aussies. What started as a little small talk and a couple of drinks turned into a night in which we were guided through a series of bars/nightclubs by these two thirsty and generous guys. They had been on the island for a week or so and know what they liked. Aside from lots of beer, we were coaxed into ...
Ios, Greece joelandes... persisted and all the ferries were canceled the next day. Luckily, there was a 4 hour opening of good weather between 4 and 8 am the 2nd day so they were able to get one ferry through to Santorini. I can't say that I was thrilled about having to get up at 3:30 in the morning to wait and see if the ferry actually came, but it was way better than being stuck on Ios for another day.
Syros and Ios, Greece lastork... in a packed room, hooting and hollering every time his mug showed up in the background. Now, I might even have to watch it again. Independence Day was fantastic as well. Canada Day was three days earlier, and frankly the Canadians made a poor showing. The Americans felt obliged to show them how it was done. We were at our obnoxious, drunken best. The festivities started at noon and a lot of alcohol and body paint was involved. At the beginning of the day, I had USA written down my ...
