        There is a difference in the two towns. Piran seems to be the home of the boaties while Portoroz has the beach frontage with the regimented rows of deck chairs and beach umbrellas. In fact, both centres have a very long history that predates the Roman Empire.

        ... would recommend this beautiful city on the water to anyone. The high tide came and part of Marco Square was flooded! Kids were splashing and lying in the water. Yuk! Who knows whats in there, We all enjoyed our day and came back for a swim and a bit of relaxation before heading to Cinque Terre tomorrow. The Euchre score is now 3 - 1 to the boys dammit.         ... blowing factories. We watched a little show and then had a look at all the beautiful but expensive glassware. We even saw the champagne glasses that we bought all those years ago. They still look elegant its a pity we actually used ours and one by one they broke, mainly from being blown over by the wind when empty. We paid $1000 for 6 and a water jug, today they were $1200 just for the 6 glasses (we decided to leave it!!).

        ... a shorter dress, which is just plastered to me and I'm trying to keep it from riding up and becoming a shirt. "This is so inappropriate!!" was something I yelled several times as waiters stood in doorways to assess the situation - and I was praying there wasn't too much to assess but I couldn't see anything because of all the rain hitting my face so I just kept pulling down the hem and running.
