Historical Traveler Reviews Hotel Continental Sirmione
A Little Piece of Heaven
We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Hotel Continental. The hotel is magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before. It was so lovely that it was hard to drag ourselves away from the hotel to explore the beautiful Lake Garda. The hotel oozes elegance from the minute you walk in the door and check in.
Giovanni and all the staff are fantastic, so helpful and friendly. Nearly every guest that we spoke to have been returning to the Hotel Continental for many years so you almost feel that you are part of a family. Our 11 year old son loved every aspect of this hotel even though there were not a great deal of children there.
Dining is a wonderful experience in the elegant dining room. The choice of food and wine is 1st class. After the fine dining it was only a very short stroll into the romantic and chic centre of old Sirmione.
We are already planning our return visit but will book direct with the hotel.
You'll not be disappointed
I opted for this hotel following Trip Advisor reviews and it fully lived up to expectations. It is a 4 star hotel situated at the top end of Sirmione old town, with a beautiful location on the shore of Lake Garda. Hotel room was spacioius and spotless with very effective air-con (a requirement in 35C). Staff were courteous and very helpful from start to finish. The food (breakfast al fresco) was well up to standard also. It is difficult to fault any aspect. We stayed for a week and would return tomorrow.
Back to one of our favorite places!
This was our third time staying at the Hotel Continental and as usual it was as good as ever, the management and staff as friendly as always,it is more like visiting with friends than staying at an hotel, we look forward to returning as soon as we can.

Just returned today...First Class
You won't get a better hotel in Sirmione than the Hotel Continental. We took on board the comments of other tripadvisor guests by choosing this Hotel, and it more than met our expectations. The location is fantastic right on the lake with large sunbathing deck, padded sunbeds parasols jacuzzi and waiter service, located near the tip of the penisula. There is also a swimming pool and spoltlessly manicured gardens. The hotel oozes elegance, it is immaculately clean throughout and I've never come across a hotel that sets and keeps such high standards for such a reasonable price. Giovanni and his staff were extremely helpful ensuring every detail was attended to. He recommended a Michelin star restaurant in Sirmione and made our reservations, (absolutely fantastic experience, tucked away next to the castle) he also recommended other restaurants according to our requirements .Our return journey via public transport was arranged by Giovanni ensuring we had the correct train connections including choices of times etc.and a print out with details... (and a taxi to the station) we travelled from Bergamo.,and had a nightmare with the train times on arrival and ended up getting a cab from Bergamo to Sirmione even though we already had return train tickets!!
Giovanni and Hotel Continental will arange direct transport from Brescia and Verona if you require.
The Hotel is directly next to the exclusive Terme Spa where we spent an afternoon, not to be missed.! We took a stroll to the incredible grottos and museums perched high amongst the olive groves and cypress trees. We wandered through the designer shops in the tiny cobbled streets amongst the Ferraris and Lotus Elan's! This place is amazing, so relaxed, so clean so chic and so much to see all in walking distance. We took a private boat around the penisula and through the castle moat under the drawbridge 30 euros for the two of us!
After checking out the other hotels I can honestly say that we will definitely be returning to the Continental..thank you Giovanini for not only setting and maintaining the high standards you keep but also for the genuine helpfulness and hospitality of all the staff many of whom have been there several years. We stayed for just two nights but experienced a weeks holiday in the most beautiful surroundings and accomodation......we will return very soon.
We stayed at the Continental for 7 nights early in May and 3 weeks later I'm still missing it!
It exceeded my expectations. The staff are friendly and extremely professional. The location is superb as it is right by the lake and away from the crowds of Sirmione. There is plenty of choice at breakfast, although that could be more interesting. Don't let that stop you from eating in the resturant. We left it until near the end of our stay to dine there and regretted not doing it sooner as the food was wonderful and the dining room is beautiful. There is an old fashioned elegance about the hotel and together with the excellent service we felt like we'd gone back in time. It was lovely to feel pampered and cared for. What is a major bonus is the large Spa that has opened next door to the hotel. It has has a gym, offers all sorts of beauty treatments [for the men too!] and has a huge heated pool with sulpher jets and sunloungers by the lakeside. Fabulous. We would definitely return but would advise against going in the high season when Sirmione must be a nightmare! We had hired a car as we then went elsewhere around the lake but if you're going for a week or less its not necessary as you can just take the ferry to other places around the lake.
Wonderful Hotel with excellent staff
We have just returned from our holiday in Sirmione at the Hotel Continental and would rate it as one of the lovliest places we have ever visited complimented by staying in a luxurious hotel situated on the lake and commanding fantastic views. The manager and staff were professional, friendly and helpful and made our stay such a pleasurable experience we all want to return. We booked independently with ease as the manager spoke very good english. Our rooms had lake views and breakfast included, we also ate lunch there several times and the food was good and service impeccable. It was definately value for money.
A very nice service
Unfortunately I was booked in an other Hotel in Sirmione with no access to the lake. Hotel Continental allowed me to use their lake aera and to use their infrastructure. This is not an usual service and I would like to thank the managament of the hotel again. For me it is quite clear, Hotel Continental will be my future destination and I can recommend this Hotel to everyone. Friendly staff, superbe food, super infrastructure and near of the Terme of Sirmione.
Hotel Continental is great!!!
Our family stayed at Hotel Continental from July 28 to Aug 1 of 2004. Our experience was great in all respects. We have two boys aged 8 and 11. We had connecting rooms with a partial lake view.
The best part was the staff - they were very friendly - always helping with restaurant reservations, recommendations on touring the lake and helping to arrange taxis. etc. I think that we were the only Americans in the hotel at the time. Our childrren were very comfortable at the hotel and we always felt very welcome.
The rooms were very nice, clean, good service. A partial lake view provides a great view of the lake. Every evening - after hitting the beach or touring one of the towns on Lake Guarda - we would relax on the balcony - enjoying the view and a fantastic bottle of one of the many local wines - before wandering into Sirmione for dinner.
We have stayed at a lot of 5 star hotels which we enjoyed less that Hotel Continental. Sirimione was great, the Hotel and staff were great.
We would definitely stay again at the Hotel Continental on future European excursions.

This morning started with ordering omelettes at one of the only restaurants here that serves a 'normal' breakfast. This restaurant reminded me of America, instead this one has views to the Arena. However it was more than normal-the spinach omelette I ordered looked more like a giant pizza! It was a normal omelette in the middle but it was surrounding by what looked like pizza crust but tasted like bread! It was amazing to taste, but I opted only to eat the egg part to try ...

We enjoy a late breakfast on our own in a lovely sunlit morning-room... as if we really were the lord and lady of the manor! The Villa is even more impressive in the morning light. After settling the bill (very reasonable) the Raven crunches off down the gravel drive and we're soon on the Verona ring road headed for the autostrada north. As luck would have it it's the end of a long weekend holiday in Germany and so the route to ...
