... the railway was added. The customs house is beautifully decorated and it was here Marco Polo was imprisoned which gave him time to write up his journey to China, which became a best seller.
Many of the buildings in Genoa are wonderfully decorated with Trompe-l'oeil meaning to fool or trick the eye, the buildings are completely flat fronted but they look as though they have columns and porticos over the windows, all an illusion.

... city is very compact and squeezed by the mountains which come right down to the sea. We went for a quick drive into the hills but it was a stormy night and the visibility poor.

Great seaside village would have lots to offer if staying for awhile. Just one night. Arrived 12.30 had lunch walked the Main Street, waited in beach girls the rain yo stop and walked back for nonno nap. Accomadation at Albergo La Pineta, is good, nice room, staff and great views. Evening was spent walking back to one of many eating places. Few drinks were had and then back to rest for tomorrow's adventure, back into ...

Wednesday 11 June 2014 - Karen is somewhat better this morning, but still has some indications that she is still not fully over her cold. A packet of tissues is a constant companion and is regularly relied on.
