... We are not fans of cities and had our fair share of them last year, but at least I can say I have seen Salzburg now. Preferring scenery, we yesterday did the dedicated cycle path along the valley from the campsite - 14 miles there and back - and returned just before the rain started mid-afternoon and I dont think it has stopped since! Anyway, we have extended our stay by one day to get packed away - come rain, come shine - before moving on to Germany tomorrow ...

It was more of a proper alpine restaurant rather than a quaint hut, but we were just happy to have some food. I had spinach ravioli, and Jess had a platter of various sliced meats, cheeses and bread. They even advertised that they served extremely thin crust pizza, and Jess was still on the hunt for perfect pizza. This place went from looking good to looking amazing. Since we learned the day before that most restaurants are open only for lunch, I went in to ask if they were open for dinner, the owner misunderstood and made me a booking for 7pm, but that was fine. We proceeded on through the sea ...

... kicked everyone off the mountain and gave it to Hitler. Instead of common houses on the landscape, the Nazis built apartments, bunkers, greenhouses, barracks, and all sorts of facilities for the elite. They also built this huge hotel to host the celebrities and dignitaries that came to visit Hitler. The hotel later converted into the American recreational headquarters after the war. The guide also pointed out the route the 101st Airborne ...
