... it is covered with a chocolate ganache- it was delicious, much better than the day before.

The afternoon was Greg’s choice and we went to the Bergisel Stadium which is the new ski jump facility which was opened in 2001. This was on the site of the original ski jump facility which was used for the Winter Olympics in 1964 and 1976. You went in a cable car, then a lift to the top ...
Innsbruck, Austrian Alps, Austria kiama_on_tour... hands.

We went to have lunch at what turned out to be a very smoky cafe with salty soups and a so called “Sacher Torte” which wasn’t very nice.

We spent the afternoon wandering through the shops, finding a nice chocolate shop and an amazing Christmas shop which had thousands of real egg shells that had been delicately handpainted as Christmas decorations as well as Easter and Halloween. They were so beautiful ...
Innsbruck, Austrian Alps, Austria kiama_on_tourWalked to the train station and did an expedition to the supermarket to spend our last Swiss Francs as we are back to Euros in Austria. Had a stopover in Zurich for a while and then caught the train to Innsbruck. Again this was a scenic trip over the mountains and it started snowing and was very deep as we got higher- just beautiful scenery. Innsbruck is surrounded by mountains, all of which had snow on them.

We checked into our hotel where we ...
Innsbruck, Austrian Alps, Austria kiama_on_tour... another day that I
suffered due to lack of sleep. On pure adrenaline I got myself up at 7AM so I
could walk around the city before my guided hike was to begin. Innsbruck is
very small and easy to navigate by map. The main part of the city has a large
river that runs through it and one can go from the center of the city to the
foothills of the mountains in about five minutes….Pretty amazing and totally
different from ...
Innsbruck, Austrian Alps, Austria jesters09... back to pay. The boss, although charing 308euro, brought us a massive bag of german bakery food as he felt sorry for us (in his hugo boss outfit). On the road again.

Since then we have spent 2 days making up ground, went around lake constance, through constance, a little of switzerland, lichtestein and spent the afternoon and night in innsnubruck. Next doing a drive through the mountains to norther italy. Hope walter doesnt play up anymore as he may have some issues from jaye.
Innsbruck, Austrian Alps, Austria jamishThis was a lovely little place we stopped at on the bus tour to the castles. Unfortunately, being Sunday, most everything was shut (except for the souvenir shops that is). They have a woodcarving school there that I plan to stop at for a weeklong course on the next trip. But of course it was shut that ...
Oberammergau, Bavaria, Germany danandrozGuten Tag damens and herrens, Look, we're not going to lie. Our time in Munich was completely dominated by beer and sausages - with the occasional pretzel and pork knuckle thrown in for good measure. On September 19, after our lazy week in Amsterdam, we were ...
Munich, Bavaria, Austria cc_world_tourNew day, new place - off to Innsbruck. What a picturesque little town. Actually, it's bigger than we thought it would be but the old town is small. We basically got to our little pension (kind of like a mix between little hostel and b&b), dumped off our stuff and went for a little walk through the town to take a look at the sites and eat some dinner. Mitch ...
Innsbruck, Austrian Alps, Austria msprague... the museums etc.. Seemed like a bargain for only 30 Euros for 48 hours as the trip up to the Alps was almost 20 Euros on its own. Our first stop, after Brian hailed the sightseer bus from the side of the road (and he was promptly told off by the driver that he was not at the station), happened to be the Alpenzoo or Alpine Zoo.. Given that it was included in the card, we decided to go and check it out. It was comparable in size to the one ...
Innsbruck, Austrian Alps, Austria flashpackersAnother work conference for my parents brought us to Oberammergau for a week. We stayed in the cutest little wooden cottage - like the whole thing ceiling to floor and including flowering window boxes was made out of wood! Totally picturesque like you've read about in Brothers Grimm fairy tales. Aromatic town bakery. Absolutely enchanting.
