Our tour guide provided a ghostly presence sporting a heavy coating of protective white face cream. Our initial assumption was that this was associated with her leading tours in the cave but she quickly eased our minds telling us that she had recently found out she is allergic to sunlight and that we needn't be worried that there was something in the cave creating her skin condition. Still, it was a pretty ghoulish sight.

Cezanne's house which he had custom built on a hill with a 7 metre by 7 metre studio with huuuuuuge windows to allow natural sunlight for his painting. 4 hours was enough before we headed south then back into the mountains behind Montpelier and wound up in the town of Lodeve! Considering I just put a pin in the map.... We did well!, Fantastic tagines for dinner and conversation ...
... store is in the form of a large barge permanently moored on the side of the canal and was not very large but we managed to pick a couple of things out to help the local economy. For lunch Loobie had squid and risotto cooked in squid ink, Leslie and Caz had a large salad with goats cheese and i had a boot leather sirloin steak which a local dog had a good share of. (Mangy looking thing) ...

Tomorrow we head to Grotte De Niaux, a network of caves several hours southwest of Siran. The cave paintings there date from 12,000 BC and depict mainly bison, ibex, deer and horses.

The next thing on the agenda was a surprise for Todd. Oh, except I forgot about it for a while because I was too excited about getting to the French house in Roquebrun.
