... not to talk politics and religion. He is quite a progressive and charitable man... However he did make it clear that the windfarms ARE ugly, and they ARE killing the birds, he'd like to see them removed. Tomorrow after breakfast in the great dining room, we'll be driven to see where Tim's Opa lived, then driven back to Amsterdam. I will sleep well tonight, with a belly full of delicious food, a clean comfy bed with no smelly backpackers for miles, in a mansion fit for a queen! Sweet dreams ...

Today we drove over the famous Dike that was built to help drain The Netherlands. It uses special locks that uses the tide and allows water to leave but not enter. The dike is over 30 km long. Without the dike and lock system, Netherlands would loose 1/4 of their land ...

The community gardens - This is such a brilliant concept, little plots of land surrounded by a fence where you pay €25 a year to own a plot. You plant your own seeds and nurture your garden. Then pick your veggies as you please. And the nicest thing - if you have too much then you put it in the share bucket ...

... next hr or so trying to figure out how he could fix the broken part. When his aunt turned up it was time for a tea break, with apologies that there was no English tea! I was just grateful for a drink. So, the guys is now hunting down the part I need and will fit it for me tomorrow so I can go on merry little way! You always have to look on the bright side when you at these "setbacks" and being able to stop and get some piccies at an old windmill was today's silver lining! Travel girl ...
