Christmas is here in Valladolid! I have one more day of class, and then 3 days of finals. Then I'm done! I can't believe it's gone so fast!!! Ahhhh
---------------
This was for my journaling class. The question was about Spanish values vs. American values:
One of the most prevalent values in Spanish culture, from my perspective at least, appears to be the importance of family within society. It seems as if the family unit holds a lot ...
... as heater, stove, oven and heats warm water. There is a bench constructed directly on top of a part of the oven where the hot air and smoke passes.. the favorite place of cold asses... During the time of our stay there are many communal working days. We helped out constructing an enlargement of the chicken ren; built a dry compost toilet; deconstruct the inner roof construction and a wall of a room ...
Valladolid, Castile-León, Spain and Canary Islands holadiyoI was going to start this entry off by complaining about how things are starting to pick up again in preparation for final exams, and then I remembered that I'm about to start a 6 day weekend in Germany, visiting Rabea. So I guess I'll hold off on that one.......
In any case, worthy of mention....things HAVE picked up here. I've got three presentations, three papers, and two tests to get ready for over the next ...
... After getting out of the winter wonderland we drove in rain for a little while longer before stopping for a bite to eat. We got some delicious omelets and egg salad at a little bar. You wonder why I’m talking about food in the middle of my description of the weather don’t you. Well it’s because right when we finished it started hailing. I’m not talking little hard snow ...
Valladolid, Castile-León, Spain and Canary Islands ktchris... they knew, and they replied that they knew enough...yet they relied on me throughout the whole meal to translate things in between English and Spanish. Everytime I encouraged them to try to communicate what they could speak, they looked like they were going to cry. I know I shouldn't laugh, but I can't help it when I just think that this is probably what Jessica and I looked like: confused and bewildered. My favorite part was ...
Valladolid, Castille and León, Spain emizner... I was doing to which I responded "No puedo hablar espanol" ("I can't speak Spanish"). Apparently my brain only functions in one language while coming out of anesthesia. My professors were fairly amused at the message I left on mom's voicemail...which went something along the lines of "Hi mom, I had appendicitis, so then I had an operation, and now I'm all better.....yadda yadda". They told me that they would be freaking out if they ever got a message like ...
... Iowa just doesn't compare to Rome, sorry), the lack of history behind most buildings, the bland architecture in general, working, not having the ability to walk everywhere
3. Important lessons in Spain thus far: If you don't understand how to do something, ask; don't guess. There are good times to use the phrase "no hablo espanol", even when you do (i.e. when homeless people in the park ask to check their email on your ...

Class is alright. Seems like there may be a lot of reading involved, but nothing too difficult. A lot of our class grades is participation...which is good for all intents and purposes. All the classes are small...6-15 people. That's really cool.
Not much else. I've finally established a few areas where I can get internet so that should supplement the on-and-off internet access at the apartment.
Esta todo.
... downstairs. We drove around the small industrial town out in the middle of the desert, and ate at a fancy hotel we passed on the highway. There was a beatiful bar where we got drinks and some salmon appetizer. There was also a huge deck overlooking the country, this hotel probably had lots of weddings and banquets. Then we were still hungry so at the cafe under the motel we got some cafes and ice cream. I think we made it an early night, nothing going on.
