    Sleepy Sunday

... freely and screeching very loudly as it was clearly Mating Season.

As I manoeuvred the car through the Car Lift I reflected on what we had seen in Valladolid and felt that we hadnt really seen it at it's best. Sundays in parts of Spain are still like they used to be in the UK before the Sunday Trading Laws changed. It's nice that people get a rest day but not great as a visitor. 2 out of 5 for the former Capital of Spain

Started the day with a visit to the cave of Salamanca... It is reported that the devil taught there at one time. Lovely wander through streets ... Chilly start but sunny... Only 22 degrees so far today but growing.

We caught train to Medina del Campo... Though very flat agricultural country.. Fields of poppies again with wheat and various other crops... Flat as the eye can see. Had lunch in central Plaza (not a lot of ...

The roads were quite busy on both ends of the journey and again we encountered a toll (12.85). The landscape has certainly changed and it is definitely looking a little more Celtic in places. The journey took around 2hrs 20mins and the campsite (El Estral - €22) seems nice enough. We parked up ...

... hardest job so far - walking past MacDonald's. The museum was good. Many more museum guides (10 ) than visitors (us plus 1) which raised a few questions about the viability of the whole enterprise (the museum as well as Spain). I expect we'll pay for it one way or an other, sooner or later. We got back to the hotel, without stopping at MacDonald's, for a snack lunch. The kids had their obligatory swim in the pool and we headed into ...

    March 17 (St. Patty’s Day)

Since I have Irish in my blood, I figured why not take in the culture and see how they celebrate St.Patrick’s Day in Spain. Martita, Leon, Eric, and I went to every Spanish bar in Valladolid (there are only 4). At the bars, they were giving out St.Patrick’s Day hats to everyone who drank two pints. By the time we arrived, all ...
