    Sleepy Sunday

... freely and screeching very loudly as it was clearly Mating Season.

As I manoeuvred the car through the Car Lift I reflected on what we had seen in Valladolid and felt that we hadnt really seen it at it's best. Sundays in parts of Spain are still like they used to be in the UK before the Sunday Trading Laws changed. It's nice that people get a rest day but not great as a visitor. 2 out of 5 for the former Capital of Spain

Big bridges being constructed and straight into tunnels in the rock face... Outstanding feats of road building. Bill and I had music on and just chilling which is lovely.... Sunny blue sky and feeling rested. Bliss ...

Today's walk was mostly on natural paths & dirt tracks through open arable farmland. Shade was limited to a few pockets of pine & drinking fonts were few, & the day was hot. We had some very steep sections down into the rio Linares (Torres del Rio) & ...

... hardest job so far - walking past MacDonald's. The museum was good. Many more museum guides (10 ) than visitors (us plus 1) which raised a few questions about the viability of the whole enterprise (the museum as well as Spain). I expect we'll pay for it one way or an other, sooner or later. We got back to the hotel, without stopping at MacDonald's, for a snack lunch. The kids had their obligatory swim in the pool and we headed into ...

    March 17 (St. Patty’s Day)

Since I have Irish in my blood, I figured why not take in the culture and see how they celebrate St.Patrick’s Day in Spain. Martita, Leon, Eric, and I went to every Spanish bar in Valladolid (there are only 4). At the bars, they were giving out St.Patrick’s Day hats to everyone who drank two pints. By the time we arrived, all ...
