Ooh La La
When we last talked John & I were sitting in a 3' x 6' space on an overnight train from Venice to Paris with our new "80+ year old non-English speaking friends" Peter & Dominique (or Harold & Maude as we nicknamed them so we could talk about them) worrying they might snore. In a very American move we made an attempt to bribe the conductor to see if …
Last Tango in Paris!
Wow our final day in Paris....hardest thing is deciding what to see (so much here) we decided since it was Sunday morning to go hang out with the locals at one of the neighborhood street fairs (market); we took a subway to an area known as Place Monge, the market was crowded with street vendors selling their fruits, meats, cheeses and local …
Paris
I had a brief encounter with Paris, a city I'd visit again. I spent an afternoon with a friend walking around the city, my favourite of which was a stroll from the Eiffel Tower back to my hotel, near the Opera House. Seeing the city shift from dusk til night time brought a change in scenery as the lights it boasts of are switched on. I spent some …
Paris - up and down - a few times.
... after stall both sides of the avenue selling all manner of goods - foods, sweets, gifts, etc. Even had a temporary ice skating track built around a Christmas playground! An enjoyable hour or so spent looking about and rubbing shoulders with other tourists and many locals. Every big Europeqn city comes alive in this way during the Christmas season.
Walked across a bridge over the River Seine adjacent to Concord - huge ferris wheel located here at the end of ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Concorde Opera Paris
Good Location
Spent five days in April at this hotel. Very easy to get around Paris from here. Metro close at hand. Open topped sight seeing buses at Opera which is very close & a good way to see Paris when you first arrive. Hotel lobby stunning. Requested an outside room on arrival & was allocated it without any hassle. Tea & coffee making facilities in room but a bit sparse i.e. no milk & dirty cups weren't washed by room service as is usual in any UK hotel.
We ate out ...breakfast/lunch/dinner.... there are some very good restaurants close by. Best way from Charles de Galle airport by taxi approx. cost 45 euros but worth it. We travelled in by courtesy bus to train station then got Metro to Saint Lazare but returned by taxi much easier.
Ask for a room facing the street
Stayed here with my family Easter 2004. N.B: apparently 'superior room' does not mean the same thing in Paris - we were given 2 fairly standard rooms overlooking the interior roof and the back wing of the hotel (claustrophobic) and told that nothing better was available at the price paid (expensive for Expedia). On the plus side, the location was great - close to the metro, shops and all the main sights. The bus from CDG airport stops at Opera, which is a 10 minute walk away. A lot of care was taken cleaning and tidying our rooms and I was particularly pleased with this aspect of service. The concierge was really helpful and the puiblic areas were impressively grand and rather beautiful. The doorman opens the door for you every time you go in or out - a nice touch I thought. If you stay here, upgrade from 'superior' if you can and make sure you get a room with a view of the street.
Not a 4 star hotel
Just got back from Spring Break in London and Paris. My husband, daughter and I Stayed 3 nights at Concorde St. Lazare. Was not impressed with the Hotel. Location was a little farther out but the Tube was right across the street which could get you anywhere. If you were a little closer in I'm sure it would have been more expensive. Got a good rate from Expedia (if you can call $215 per night a good deal-but compared to posted rates at other hotels this was good) The lobby is grand but our room left a lot to be desired. Small ( but all hotels in Paris are). The bed was soft. Furnishings on the older side.
Room was clean and quiet. I guess overall it was ok, but I would not stay there again if I had to go back.
Highly Recommended!
Just returned from a 3 night stay at this fabulous hotel. A feeling of old world charm, sophistication and elegance are apparent in the exquisite lobby. The staff was professional, attentive and helpful. Our room was comfortable and exceptionally clean. The breakfast buffet had a wide selection to choose from and was very good, but make sure it's included in your package, otherwise its pricey (About 25 euros per person per day). I got a great deal on Expedia, about half off the posted rate (with breakfast included) I would not hesitate to stay here again, it was a wonderful experience.
Magnifique!
My husband and I took our three teenagers to Paris and stayed at this marvelous hotel designed by students of Gustave Eiffel. The rooms are beautifully-appointed and bathrooms are sparkling. The billiard room is a sight to behold. The location is near the Opera and the major department stores. Transportation is very conveniently situated nearby.
A plus for our children--a McDonald's right across the street where they could order a "Royale with Cheese."
Fantastic hotel, loved it
After staying at a couple of other hotels during this week in Paris in January, (when your hotel room is more important than in the summer months) I thoroughly recommend this one. We did get a special deal for this off-peak time, but the room was really big, as was the bathroom.
Despite being on a main road it was quiet and no noise from other rooms. It is old fashioned big and solid. The statt were very friendly.
the loby is amazing
Safe and Secure Hotel to Stay
My wife and I had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is great and the staff was very helpful. The rooms are small by american standards but large enough and very nice to make the stay. Most of the TV stations are in french so when your in your after the siteseeing it can be alittle frustrating. The locatiion is great. The metro and Train station is right in the back of the hotel so it makes it easy to get around. Make sure that your breakfast is included in the package otherwise you might be surprised. Buffet breakfast and it has everything that you might want but high priced to what your use to. If at all possible request an outside room. The view of the court yard is just a roof. The hotel is a good stay and like i said the people are great. Have a great stay. Look out for pick pockets all over paris. The Metros are the best way to get around. Have a great time and we hope to return.
Fantastic!
What a beautiful hotel. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in November and we loved it. The staff is great, the hotel is comfortable and elegant, very nice breakfast, location is great. The metro is next to the hotel so you can hop on and go anywhere. The department stores Printemps and Galerie Lafayette are across the street along with many other wonderful shops, restaurants, and cafes. The room was a double superior. We got a great discount price from expedia at $200 usd per night. We had thick cotton robes and slippers, a balcony in the bathroom and a balcony in the bedroom overlooking Rue Saint Lazare. We had very large wardrobes to hang our clothes or store in drawers and keep our suitcases. We will go back someday to this wonderful hotel and beautiful city.
Excellent Accomodations!
I have stayed at the Hotel Concorde Saint Lazare two years ago and it was fabulous. The lobby is extraorinary for a Parisian hotel and the rooms were clean and the bathrooms were extremely modern. The location is great for all of the Paris attractions and shopping is very close by. I am looking to book a trip there in the next few weeks and will be staying at this hotel.
Memorable...
We stayed there a few years ago and loved it. Beautiful and huge lobby, clean halls and rooms. Excellent breakfast, but come early so you don't have to wait for a table during the busy season. Perfect location. I would stay there again.
