Leaving Milano, we started the day with Bergamo which is an ancient town about 40 km east of Milan we've been hearing a lot about. I have to admit that it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Maybe it's just me setting my expectation too high.
The old town (citta alta) is up on the hill and we had to take ...

... We were in awe (see all the pictures I took which does not do the view justice). After this, we walked around the city until we found the botanical gardens. Sadly, some of it was closed due to the cold (it had snowed a couple days before). So we decided to walk to the Castello di San Vigilio on the top of the mountain. PS: Spontini take away pizza was ...

... so much ocean at on time in my life". It was great to bring Nonna to her family and have lunch in the house she was born in. As we wandered down to the houses of Anita and Gino and on through the village I just felt like I was finally experienced the real Sicily. The town was very quiet and beautiful. It had just one bar with lots of (mainly old men) playing cards. Gino took us in and bought us drinks and multiple snacks for the boys. In the morning we walked further up hill. Bruna met ...

ITALY - Cinque Terre and Milan

... We felt fortunate to be able to have this experience.   We arrived in the lovely town of Monterosso, the first town on the famous Cinque Terre on the west side of Italy along the Mediterranean coast. The Cinque Terre is another one of the places I wanted to go to when we were living in London but we never quite made it so we were pretty excited. All the travel literature about it shows an amazing amount of beautiful picturesque coastal towns and ...
