We found a lovely local lady who showed us the Metro station and the way we needed to head. WE decided to walk for a bit, found the Hilton Hotel and grabbed a concierge and a map, and then walked much more confidently towards the Lima train station. Milano - the Melbourne of Italy I have been missing home a bit and this city definitely has a vibe. Plenty of ostentatious designer shops but also a more hip and grungy side especially in Navigli where we stayed. Me like ! Just like Melbourne the airport is a long was from the city ( but you have great views of snow capped alps in the distance) and so a cab it was. Our hotel the Art Hotel Navigli was very nice and we had a 2 bedroom suite which was great ( with supermarket opposite). ...
... to have as a light dinner. None of the shops were open however, apart from the occasional small deli or stall (unless you wanted clothes) and we ended up just grabbing bits from a vege shop and some meat from the deli to throw something together.
We are now settled in to the apartment - decent sized place but not kettle (even though there's tea and coffee) and the TVs are so old they are using SCART!
