After a less than pleasant night, John had a late breakfast and we checked out. Apart from the food episode it was a great place to stay and we would recommend the Grand Imperiale Hotel as a good place to base yourself to see Lake Como (but don't eat at Cafe Bellini - a couple of doors down!) He pointed out important places like Versace's villa, George's villa, Ric************'s villa and lots of others. It rained most of the time but wasn't cold. The low lying cloud was quite picturesque though. We ...

... around Italy and France, Luck would have it that a guy was standing at the dock with 5 € umbrellas and around the corner was a small thrift store where I picked up a pretty cool light rain jacket for the same price. Churches are a good place to hang out when it's pouring out and Como has a very famous and beautiful cathedral. It's another gothic example started in the 1300's that took several centuries ...
