... the lake. The food produced in this area of Italy is another of the many highlights, the number of cheeses, ham and wines to sample seems infinte. The area has all kinds of diverse scenery and vistas to enjoy. I have been visiting this area for over 5 years and have come to the conclusion that the aesthetic and cultural assets are hard to beat.

The month of illness and dog attacks

... they still scream and cry and drive me crazy, but now there are times when they snuggle up with me, Francesco especially. He can be so dang adorable! I wish he was like that all the time. One day I did something that I must keep a surprise...but it will be shocking I promise! And the Pope was in Brescia! I wanted to go so bad, but no one could give me a ride there. It was rainy and cold, so I guess it's probably a good thing I didn't go, considering I ...

... I think the oldest building I've ever been in - it was built in 30 AD (that's a 2 digit year, not a typo)

Castelvechio was also pretty cool and had some great art inside.

Stopped at Osteria Verona in the main square for some predinner drinks and had some awesome house wine before going to La Taverna Di Via Stella for dinner. Really nice place with friendly staff and great food. Had ...

"but soft what light through yonder window breaks"

......... So apparently the title is a quote from Romeo and Juliet...... You learn something new every day!

So we only stopped here for a couple of hours as a rest stop but it was pretty cool.

Verona is a very pretty town that is famous for Juliet Capulet's balcony and the entrance to the balcony is where all the lovey dovey couples write ...

O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?

... were very tasty though. But luckily their moustaches were all burnt off!

Venezia was the same, just alot windier, colder and more wet.

We went on to Verona, and wow! Verona is the most beautiful town I had seen in Italy (at this point). I cannot describe what it was about the place, it was just, so different to anywhere else. It had ...

... across the square and to enter the cathedral. It was crazy with people walking through the water (getting wet), people pushing in and police actually trying to get some order. We decided to get out of that area quickly as everything was overpriced. We headed towards the Rialto Bridge and came across toilets which cost 1.50 Euros each person which apparently is the going rate. So for 4 of us, it cost $12 AUD just for us to go to ...

Love Verona!

... painting in them were common. I’m not really into Italian art, but there were a couple of Bellini’s paintings which were a standout. The castle itself was impressive, including the bridge that crossed the river from the castle. After we left the castle, we searched for a kid’s playground that we read about, plus Tara wanted to go to the toilet so we thought there would be one there. When we found it, the playground was really suitable for small ...

... ants nest. not the best pitch we have ever had. We spend the first day lounging by the lake, this part of the lake is dirty and nothing like the romantic picturesque images we were looking forward to. nevertheless it was relaxing the food was good and the beer was cold.
what more could I ask for?
a pitch in the shade away from the ants and the children, too much to ask?

... Italy. Then one last scary crossing of the Europe bridge and you're there. Exit the "Autostrada" interstate in Roverto and follow the signs towards Lake Garda. Once you enter the serpentine decent to the lake you're really getting your moneys worth. The views are amazing and I love to stop in Riva, park on the side of the lake and go for a little walk, then continue your drive on the ...
