Hotel Colon Rambla Santa Cruz de Tenerife

It's made on an open bit of land, which is dedicated to the Belen, which is a working miniature village, what ever a village has, you will find here in this 'Belen' - Church, Graveyard, Blacksmith, Baker, Butcher, Grocer, Manor House, lots of houses with the locals sat outside ...

The Observatory del Teide, Tenerife is located 2.390 meters above sea level in Inzaña, an area in the vicinity of Mount Teide that lies across three municipals La Oratava, Guimar and Fasnia, this is where Astrophysics first began in the Canaries in the early 1960's.

The geographical location along with the clarity and quality of the sky, means that the Observatory del Teide is ideally suited for studying the sun.

Omdat Arico zo'n groot en mooi klimgebied is en we daar nog verschillende routes gezien hebben die binnen onze mogelijkheden liggen, besluiten we er nog maar eens een dagje naartoe te trekken.

Effe stevig beginnen met een uitdagende overhang, daarna ne 6a met ne variant 6b (die te moeilijk bleek). Nog een paar 5-kes en opnieuw ne 6a. Dit toen de armen helemaal op waren! Ne kanshebber voor ne ...

Vandaag staat er een nieuw dagje klimmen op het programma.
Bestemming El Rio, een klimgebied dat gelegen is in een canyon achter een stuwdam. Het stuwmeer staat momenteel echter leeg en alle klimzones zijn bereikbaar.

Na de "makkelijke" routes geklommen te hebben, proberen we nu maar eens om het touw boven om ...

... je doet er zeker zes uur over om onderaan de top, "La Rambleta" op 3555 meter hoogte te komen. De top van de Teide is 3718 meter hoog.
De wandeling starten we bij de parkeerplaats “Montana Blanca” langs de weg TF-21 op 2364 meter hoogte. De wandeling begint heel rustig op een breed pad en slingert langzaam naar boven. Er zijn kleine paadjes aanwezig die de route afsnijden, maar het is niet toegestaan van het hoofdpad af te wijken.

Gisteren hebben we bij Tenerife Outdoor een nieuwe topo gehaald van Tenerife. Moeten huren omdat er nog maar zeer weinig topo's beschikbaar zijn en deze moeten we dus op het einde van de week weer terug binnen brengen.

Vandaag klimmen in een soort canyon!

... my mind playing tricks on me? Or was some sinister force at work? I thought about turning on the light - but what if I actually saw something up in the rafters? Maybe use the bathroom down the hall? But it's even darker and creepier out there. I managed to convince myself it was all a dream, pulled the covers tighter over my head, and somehow fell asleep.

I thought nothing more about this incident until much later in the day. I've replayed ...

... when they realised we were trying to speak spanish :) we even went so far to ask for directions and order our food in spanish...how cool are we We managed to grab a siesta when we found the pension and then we took a lovely walk down to the centre and we had a drink at the outdoor bar it was lush.
