Mexico lindo

... doctors, opticians and especially drugs. The street was full of little shops and items of souveneirs, full of people, both tourists and Mexicans, walking from one place to another. The sweltering heat (40 C), almost impossible to go very long without going into shops to cool off, some only with fans.
After lunch in a typical Mexican restaurant in the area and buy some souveneirs, walking back to USA on Rio Grande.

When a tire blows - you stop!

Monday the 13. We had to get up early in the morning to pack. We brought stuff from the house to the motor home. We stopped doing that at 1:30. When we left, we got on highway 83.w. We had a blowout on highway 83n. We heard a lot of noise and the rv started to shake. We waited 3 to 4 hours on the side of the road and the temp was 110*. Papaw brought out chairs and we sat in the shade of ...

The Day Before...

Its 6:15 PM, and our bus is about to depart for Queretaro, where we will connect to another bus or taxi onto San Miguel de Allende. I was surprised at how easy it was to get across the border. Karen and I went to the Mexican Consulate in Laredo to get our permisos. After eating lunch with my folks, we went to International Bridge #1 where we walked across with our luggage. Once across, we went into the immigration office to pay the fees for the permiso and then walked a few ...

Cristmas '07

... last minute Christmas rush, provisioned up and headed to the Casa Blanca State Park. Very close to to the City, the park had a lot of full time residents taking up all the prime spots. We put the boat in the water and tested out the motor, she ran like a dream. We talked about leaving Christmas eve because the site we had was pretty ****** and not level, but while James and I were out fishing in the boat ...

Leaving Laredo

7/21/2007 Paul came by about 8:30 and we loaded up my gear and went back to his house to load up the two pretty bikes in the back of his truck. The other three bikes were already loaded on the trailer. It was lightly raining and we lucky to get the motorcycles up into the truck bed without 400 pounds of British iron falling on one of us. We finally pulled away from Paul's house around 10am and headed up I-35 to US83 that goes ...

Mexican Border

... Turned out we crossed the border with no problem at all, the bus stopped outside the office where we got our tourist cards in a very suspicious office with lots of scary Mexican officials sat around watching football and hopped back on the bus within minutes to go to customs. The 2 buses in front of us had to get off and all their bags checked but for some reason when it came to ours we just drove straight through. Anyway, there was a definite deterioration ...

Sunday Round Two

... he said that it was. He then helped me out by holding in my clutch and saying, "when" as I got it up to the correct rate of speed. I turned in my card and learned that I had dropped twenty two points on loop one! I told myself to forget it and have fun and try to do better. That resulted in a five point decrease for a score of 17 one loop two. Loop three started out good with a couple of solid cleans and I was feeling real good after leaving section five with another good clean ride. At ...

Saturday Round One

... They didn't give me too much problem and I was starting to feel a little better even though I was afraid that I was already out of the hunt for a top five finish. After I made it through sections eight and nine, I met three riders going the wrong direction on the loop. I stopped and they asked me where section ten was. I didn't know so I followed them as we searched for it. We found a section, but it was for the afternoon riders. There we decided to go to the scoring table and ask ...

Mexico - Crossing the border

... narrow, there are no good signs to where to go and we had to go twice around because we missed the turn on the first time. We finally crossed the bridge and nobody looked, talked or asked us where we were going, doing, etc. Just like USA isn't it? We made our way to the transportation department to get permit for our jeep, pop-up and visas. Taxes, taxes and taxes paid and we were free to go.
