... we arrived where we thought they should be, to discover they were more than 3km away and all of that uphill. The moral is don't trust hotel maps. Well before we reached the first church we were out in the country with the cows and crops. Santa Maria del Naranco is a 9th century former palace, small but quite fascinating. It has no aisles and sunlight enters through elongated arched windows. Unfortunately the guided tour was in Spanish, the guide did ...

... bus route was just brilliant - it took you through gorges, past sheer cliff faces, alongside mountains and farms etc etc.

We got to Fuente Te and took the cable car into the clouds. Shame we were unable to see the last 150 m but nevertheless it was excellent.

When we got back to San Vicente we enjoyed some local delicacies. A most enjoyable day.

... doing homework and going to bed. Now what am I to do??

Not only am I going to miss Santander, I am going to miss the people. We got to know Dutch, Spanish, and British people really well, and it finally hit me that it is going to be hard to see them go!

Looking ahead to this weekend, I really need some rest! There will be a LOT of touring for the next few days, and before I know it, we will all be heading home!

Until Salamanca!

The first evening we did witness one boat take a [local] buoy and then swung round like mad and actually bumped into another boat. We had luckily kept watch and pulled in chain as this boat got close to ...

... to new people. Usually, I am a very shy person. In Spain, you simply cannot be that way. I am really proud of what I have become in just a month! (I still hate ham though... that is never going to change.)

I hope that when I come home, I find ways to continue my growth as a Spanish speaker, as well as become more outgoing as a person. I have certainly made friends here that I will never forget!

Good night everyone!
