Our day started with a visit to an artisan workshop where they do glass making, lace making and masks. It used to be an old gondola factory. The demonstration of glassblowing was interesting and the salesmanship of our guide was very entertaining. He could have sold ice to Eskimos!!! Quite a few of the group bought things including Sandra and Peter.....I won't spoil the surprise by telling you what they bought!!! But I can't wait to see it!! We wandered off ...

... at them and being so impressed. We talked to the lady who worked there. She told us, when the movie 'Eyes Wide Shut' was being made, the producers got five of the top merchants of Venetian masks to submit masks to be possibly used in the movie. Three of her masks were chosen for the most significant scenes to be used in the movie - we were impressed.

We headed back to the airport to pick up our car and head to Bologna for the night - let the road trip ...

... enough to Ponte Rialto, accessible to most areas by a 15-20 minute walk and just across from the Mercado di Rialto or Rialto Market.

To cross the a grand canal, one uses traghettos or gondolas operated by gondoliers in training. The cost is €2.

Once on the other side, one is surrounded by a blend of colors, seafood and the chatter of people shopping for dinner from an array of freshly caught and harvested food as the ...
