... making our way to the coach and onto Venice. Arrived at the coach park and were transferred onto taxis with our luggage that then took us for a trip around the Grand Canal before depositing us at the Carlton opposite the train station.

Not really impressed with it however, the rooms are tiny and we are overlooking a concrete courtyard.

We were given a welcome dinner which wasn't very impressive either and so to bed......

... to be flowing from left to right. When you stand in the center, the river appears to flow from top to bottom and when you stand on the left side the river appears to flow from right to left. Such clever people, I can not imagine how they did that. There was a similar tapestry in the Vatican Museum.

When we completed our tour of the palace, we were left on our own to wander through the gardens. Several white peacocks joined ...

... We found a nice place for lunch down by the water and enjoyed a nice long lunch of pasta and wine. Tonight we are eating out and can pick from a few local restaurants that our tour director has recommended. Had a great meal at our restaurant - perfectly cooked steak and Julie had her favourite rack of lamb. Together with great wine, the evening was a success. ...

First stop today was to travel by boat up the coast to the town of Portofino. This town is where the celebrities go to be noticed. We did not see anyone however this is a beautiful little town and we had 2 hours to wander around the shops and cafés. A number of pictures are attached.
