After Palermo I went east across Sicily via bus to Catania, a city at the base of Mt Etna, the largest volcano in Europe, and still frequently active (as it is tonight!! Exciting!!!).
The bus trip from Palermo to Catania was pure madness. The chain smoking driver was either pulling over every two seconds for a durry, or, alternatively, swerving oncoming traffic ...

Up early this morning because we have arranged for a private tour to Alcantara Gorge, Castemola and Taormina. Had a light breakfast in Colonnade and caught up with Julianne and Ian in there who were going on a tour to Syracuse.
We were meeting Christian, our driver for the day, at 9am so there was no need to rush. Just the way I like it! Christian was outside the customs area at the port waiting for us. He is a young man and boy ...
