... Angela was still stuck in the ladies' queue, a hotel was demanded. Drove into the Germanic Puerto Varas for more planning, more wifi hunting and a suitably palatial hotel. Ended up staying in a shipping container. A nice shipping container though, with a modern bathroom, fast wifi and fluffy towels. Ange wanted to stay there for the next three months. The couple who owned it were so welcoming and friendly to add to our pleasure. Found local restaurant in ...

... a bit of time (not the bike) to see Vicki.

Back to a soggy Mark. Having ridden extra the night before, I now had a really short day of about 60k and a ferry into Puerto Montt and the end of the Carretera Austral. During the night we had travelled deep into Quiltralco Fiord which is an arm carved by a glacier, long since melted, off the main water way. We had berthed alongside a quay. Lying at a short distance from the quay was a large building which we were told was the restaurant, a large house, a couple of smaller houses and some other buildings, one of which contained an indoor thermal pool and the other of which housed changing rooms for the outdoor thermal pool. The ...

... to Puerto Montt was delayed by an hour. The plane from the gate our flight to go from was delayed so at the last minute they changed our gate. That didn't have an air bridge and we were all taken in buses to the plane which was waiting at a distance from the terminal. That all added delay. It's ages since either of us has been taken out by bus to a plane. The terminal at Santiago airport is being extended at present as it is not large enough. It certainly isn't. ...
