... the bars and one of them was on each Hercules. They had with them ice picks as they had a special task to perform. They had to take glacier ice to use in drinks, instead of using ordinary ice cubes. The captain steered the boat right up close to a glacier and the batman went to the front of the boat to hack off pieces of ice. ... Fletcher is still struggling with sciatica. We were able to buy an adaptor as our other one had broken on us. We stopped halfway along the foreshore to watch a large military parade that was happening. There was a number of platoons of soldiers in camouflage outfits as well as groups of Navy, commando and rifle troops. Some soldiers were being presented with medals.
