... import document. We started in the wrong queue, and were then told which we needed, another 20 minutes later we got to see the Officer who typed out the forms. On leaving we checked and found the moped had the chassis number wrong, the licence plate wrong and the name wrong. We went back in and had to wait until he finished with the next person before he did a new one correctly. That done we could leave, it had only taken 3 ½ hours to get through. We had a quick ...
Liberia, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica mikeandmary... also the most corrupt from what we've heard)... yes there were a few things that stood in between us and paradise this morning! The roads are pretty bad here (in Nicaragua) and I am so glad we are on a motorcycle and not in a car! About every 60 feet the asphalt disappears and you are riding on dirt, mud and HUGE potholes, then asphalt for 60 feet and then the dirt and mud again. There is no centralized infrastructure, instead the people living in the ...
Playas del Coco, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica jessandmalin... streets and eventually got the bus back to Liberia. All those wasted rays, I could be so much redder by now!!!! It was a really nice way to spend the day and actually 2 hours was probably perfect as I am a little red - but don't tell Epi that! For the next 3 days we are going to be travelling across land to Guatemala on "Tica Bus". I am a little nervous, but I am sure it will all be fun! We are ...
Playas del Coco, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica littleshivy... sun and heat (I told her that natural selection would have weeded her out long ago with that skin), and we needed to spend some time indoors. So we took ourselves to the gym and dragged ourselves through a two-hour cardio and yoga workout. We were so proud of ourselves, we decided to celebrate and promptly went to the bar, where we proceeded to while away the better part of the afternoon drinking enormous ...
Playas del Coco, Costa Rica moppet77... turns out to contribute to why this turned out to be the longest day of my life. While I waited for my 6:00 a.m. flight to board, I take the time to look through the paperwork and discover that Sansa airlines--a regional Costa Rican airline that was going to take me from San Jose, Costa Rica to Liberia Costa Rica--has a strictly-enforced luggage limit of 25 pounds. Including all carry-ons. At that point I knew I was in trouble. Not only ...
Playas del Coco, Costa Rica moppet77... lake covered with huge wind-mills to generate electricity, a big and beautiful lake with clear water and Volcano Arenal glooming in the background. My friends Peter and Christl run a windsurfing and kitesurfing center there and invited us to their beautiful house one evening. Thanks for your hospitality! Supposedly we lucked out with the weather while ...
Lago Arenal, Costa Rica globekiter... and soon enough, the volcano appeared. it loomed on the horizon, calling to us. We loaded up and trekked our bags off the bus. We made our way to Arenal's Backpacker Resort, a 5 star hostel. and 5 star it was. it has a great pool, a swim up bar, a fantastic view of the volcano, huge mattresses and steaming hot showers. It has brand new computers, a restaruant and a bar with great drink specials. They also have a desk for booking tours and they did give really good deals, made ...
La Fortuna, Costa Rica travel.junkie... right?? Anyway, came back from the tour at 12 and waited in a bright street corner til 3, then wearily made our way towards the bus station. I snuck into the nearby bar to use their bathroom before our 7 hour trip to San Jose the capital. Everyone in there were off their heads on more than alcohol. I wasn`t sorry to be leaving Tamarindo. A great place to come with a crowd on a package holiday with a lot of mulah. Lots to do but ******* the pockets.
