... to the KZN coast. After one or two hairy, scary wrong turns, we found the ferry in San Giovanni and made the 20 minute crossing to Messina in Sicily - very exciting to start the Sicily portion of our trip, if a little apprehensive, as I never know whether the places we book online will be habitable and remotely resemble their descriptions..... will report back soon..... ... a local who kindly drove us to the accommodation. A 2 1/2 hour trip plus stops was 6 hours. We were the only guests and they didn't speak English. So Don again came to the rescue with his Italian. We had dinner early and ordered no carne or peschie for me. Don had the local signature dish of Stocco fish. We ended up with 8 plates of food. I needed up wrapping 7 fritters in serviettes for lunch the next day. They think that if you are vegetarian you will starve so they overfeed ...

    Ostuni

... lol. We went for a round trip to Alberebello where the Trulli houses are. We had to find our way through Ostuni first then onto Cisternino followed by Locorotondo. These are all reasonably big towns that have many Trulli's. At Alberebello it is quite touristy but there are many Trulli's to see. I was even able to help an English couple get there parking ticket from the machine. That's only because I had lessons from the ticket inspector. It's easy when you know ...
