... which is a very small fishing village with only 40 permanent inhabitants. There are some restaurants on the island but no hotels. If you make a reservation at a restaurant they send a boat to pick you up and then take you back when you’re finished with dinner. Everything here closes during the winter because there are no tourists since it gets very cold and often snows. Next we disembark at Isola Bella (Beautiful ...

We had a free day today as most of the tour group were heading to Lake Como for a boat cruise, shopping, and celebrity hunting. ... a relief, but finding the right road that leads to Pineata Maratea REsidence Resort was another issue. After a little excursion through the heart of this pretty, ancient hillside town, we finally found a sign that pointed towards the Pineata Maratea Resort...yahaoo! And after another 7 or 8 SERIOUS switchbacks climbing some 400 meters we were finally at our resort! Now we knew we could settle in for a few days and enjoy discovering the beautiful seaside area.
