        ... occupation. Again many artefacts have been found and work is still going on. The coast here is very rocky and has a lot of inlets, and a little further on we found a large natural swimming hole surrounded by rock. We drove home and walked round the grounds of the estate. Wally is getting used to the erratic ways of the Italian drivers, who do the most unexpected things at the most unexpected moments!

Santa Croce, a building more Baroque than any other, its facade described as 'a decorative waterfall, a fantasy that becomes delirium', full of eagles, monkeys, dragons, the saints, the Turks, twisted columns, flora, fruit, ribbons, cherubs etc. It is being renovated so had some scaffolding, but still very impressive. By this time we were Baroqued out, so decided to return tomorrow.
