... a false start, we cycled along the road, which was fine because it was reasonably quiet. The marina was a bit desolate. I think it is the type of place that only operates for two months of the year during the summer holidays so everything looked very shut up and dilapidated with rubbish strewn everywhere. We found the cycle route and were glad we hadn’t taken it. It was overgrown with 10 foot high bamboo and thorny briars which I am sure ...

The birthplace of Archimedes(you remember the book Mr Archimedes bath) and chosen island for Mafia. There are quite a few mafia type souvenirs around the little shops, along with lava from Mt Etna, which was smoking satisfactorily when we were leaving. Our B & B, as it is self described, needed for us to have four pair of sharp eyes to see the turn off sign and a ring of the entry gate to allow us to enter. we have pleasant motel style rooms in the middle of nowhere, but quiet we assume unless there are more trains or roosters than ...

A 4:30 start had us pack our final few things and then follow the coast line to the airport as the sun rose over the ocean. Not many beach goers at this hour but we did see one or two people out, believe it or not. There was a dog laying on the pavement sound asleep. Probably found it cooler there although he/she does live dangerously I must say. After a long wait in what didn't seem like a very long line-up, we checked in at ...
