... 8217;t even noticed was worn) and giving me new front and back break pads.

These guys were so excited to be working on our bikes. Not only due to slow business, they were genuinely interested in helping out and greatly impressed that we have gone so far. Brian also replaced his front fork and the guy stayed after closing to finish it up for him. When everything was all shiny and new the owner shook Brian’s ...
Kalamata, Peloponnese, Greece 2totango... was even a solitary-confinement-type cell that we got a first-hand look at. It was only about 3ft x 5ft with a 3ft tall door!

After the fortress, we had about 3 hours of free time where we could just explore the city, so I took off with Amber and Tonya. First we had breakfast and then just went to wander. We looked at various shops and stopped to get some snacks before heading back to ...
Nafplion, Greece anp2... It was difficult to understand him as he had very few teeth! but we got it in the end and it was grand of him to help us out. Making our way up we admired the various Mycenean structures but could only speculate whether there was evidence of cruder medieval workings on and around the top. Part of the hill was securely fenced off, so we could not inspect the whole area; Paul in particular quested about a lot among the various ...
Palaiókastron, Greece saracengill... stunningly beautiful setting and well worth tramping around - but could do with a few signs! We were one of three (all small) groups of foreign visitors on the site in the hour or so we spent there - not enough to make a paying concern, but enough to make it worth explaining a bit more. Perhaps if we were mad about classical stuff rather than medieval we would have stayed longer...

As it was, we next crossed the bridge to the car ...
Gortys, Greece saracengill... somewhat inconclusive it had been a good evening adventure.

We had been fairly sure that the village's sole taverna, To Kastro, was closed on Monday nights, but double-checked to make sure. We had to be content with the knowledge that we had been right, and fed ourselves from our supplies. We made a good feast and then tried to watch some TV - but in the end were just too worn out with our St George adventures and were soon asleep.
Likósoura, Greece saracengill... 11.50 Euros later we were in Nafplio.

We stayed at a small place called Dimitrios Bekas. It was a basic place for 15 Euros a night. It was clean, quiet and had a roof top terrace.

Nafplio is a town that looks like it was made for a movie, I felt like I was always on set ready to be filmed. The houses are adorably cute with small terraces and lots of potted plants, well maintained and colorful and the streets have posh ...
Nafplio, Greece feliz_carolina... means you can run the fridge with the engine off, constant cold drinks. She also sails really well, after last year's boat which was much more spacious but less of a performer, we found ourselves getting everywhere first! We were even called into service as deputy lead boat when one of the others had a fouled propeller, so the lead crew jumped onto Mistral rather than spending much longer untying 'Thalia' and we were off to do a tricky but ...
Leonídion, Greece heleng2... most amazing acoustics. It has a seating capacity for 14,000 and if the concert is poor, there is always the scenery. When a coin is dropped in the middle of the stage area, it can be heard all the way around the theatre. While there a group a Germans began to sing and the sound was fantastic. Nafplio has a number of forts around it. We visited the large fort called Palamidi Fortress, the smaller one is ...
Nafplio, Greece gas_greece... gt; ? Words from the Wise # 74 "To me, travel is not about rest and relaxation. It's action, exertion, motion, and the built-in delays are longueurs necessitated by the inevitable problem-solving of forward movement; waiting for buses and trains, enduring breakdowns that you try to make the best of." Paul Theroux - Dark Star Safari (Overland from Cairo to Cape Town)
Nafplio, Greece technotrekker... the spot was chosen for their town. The Lion's Gate was awe-inspiring and the surrounding Cyclopean walls were constructed of massive stones. There was a cave to the underground cistern (well), used for water when the town was under siege. Kevin was afraid to go down and snapped pictures from the entrance. Rebecca went part way down, but it got too dark to see and the spider webs became larger and larger. We picked up some Hercules wine (a "special price") and ...
