I got an email from Viator, a travel app, detailing a day trip from Barcelona to the Costa Brava. So I wrote down all the names of the places they would visit on this tour and off we went. The first place we drove into was called Calella de Palafrugell. They described it as a small coastal town, postcard perfect and to have your cameras ready to capture all the bobbing boats in the harbour. Well they were right, its very picturesque and ...

... shot them into the water and that was really fantastic. There is a video to watch how intense it was. 1st July: First day of sightseeing in Barcelona. We caught the train in which took about 50 minutes with stops in each town. It was great to be immersed in the cacophony of Spanish conversation. To the old phrase " only mad dogs and Englishman go out in the midday sun", you may add KNBC cyclists. We headed off from Argele sur mer about 8 and headed down the coast. Spectacular scenery, but the idea that we were finished climbing quickly turned out to be a myth. Each village along the coast involves a descent with a subsequent climb on the other side. Just after we crossed the border we took the alternate route to avoid a tunnel which involved the ...

Today everyone tried to get an early start in what proved to be a somewhat futile attempt to avoid at least some of the heat of the day, as today's route promised almost as much climbing as yesterday's. It started magnificently, following the coast up, down, and around as we passed through one town after another, occasionally heading inland for a bit before returning to the sea. There were several ...
