          A drive in Catalunya

The small town of Montblanc is just up the road from Valls. We'd popped in for a late lunch one afternoon earlier in the year for little more than an hour and had been quite impressed, so with a free day we decided to go and have a closer look. We parked in the same car park that we’d used before, in the shade of a section of the city walls and the walked down to the edge of the old town to where an elderly bridge crosses the river and then from there into ...

I'm going to write this close to the event, even though I have several other trips that need to be finished off and haven't even started this one properly yet - but it was a pretty important day.

I was up before 8 a.m. because we'd had a respectably early night and I had promised to give Cuss a wake up call and he was relying on Ash's 'phone. I had to call a couple of times but eventually woke them up. The reason for the need for an early start was the traditional ...

          Reus castells and Valls diables

There was a Diada Castellera scheduled for Reus today and we didn't have any other plans so off we went. As we were driving into Reus we noticed a large bird of prey quite low over the road and Julie got a good enough view to confirm that it was a Booted Eagle. We parked in the market car park and when we came out onto the street another large raptor high overhead had us scuttling back to the car for our binoculars. We didn't relocate it but ...

We had a free day until 22:30 and we used by heading off for the third time this year to look for steppe bird species in the plains to the west of Lleida. We probably could have made an effort to get up earlier but we were lazy, however it was still what you might call breakfast time as we pulled in to the same café that we'd used on our last visit, somewhere not far south of Lleida. There were less truck drivers drinking beer and wine on this occasion but ...

          Dinner in Tarragona

It's about an hour before we set off for East Midlands airport but even that will be a bit early. My car's parked on a zone that becomes "No Parking" at 10 a.m.

If all goes according to plan we'll pick up a rental car at Reus airport in the early evening, make the short drive to Tarragona and meet some friends for dinner. We think the restaurant they've suggested is Pulvinar, probably our favourite in the city although the food is ...
