... an annoying blister, and I was off. No desire to socialize, as I feel like I'm on borrowed time with my left Achilles' tendon. After a rather weird afternoon and evening and a very uncomfortable bed we made a break for it just after breakfast when Pedro invited us and other pilgrims in our Albergue to 'andiamo'. We had a small debrief with others as we met them during the day and all agreed that there was something slightly off centre about the Albergue and the village of Ciurna in general but no-one could quite put a finger on it. ... it was going to be my final resting place period. However, right about then a little fellow from Japan walked up to us and spoke no english. He indicated he was hungry so Rosa gave him some bread and nuts. Then he took out his harmonica and played us several songs. He played them with such passion and so beautifully, all 3 of us had a good cry. After about 15 minutes he moved on and so did we. We ended up in an Alburgue ...

... from the fountain and to moan re the weather with others travellers some we knew from the night before and other new faces. Took off for a 9 kilometre walk with no shade and feeling hot but not realising it was close to 40 degrees which it did reach on the track. ... and there are very good restaurants here. It's obvious people come out from the city, Burgos, for little get-aways, and this supports these kind of services being on offer, eg. good wine bars/liquor shops, gourmet food shops, restaurants, accommodation etc. No complaints here.
