Barcelona, Spain Day 3 - Tibidabo

... sights and sounds. My name for the place is Seizure House, because it has all sorts of strobe lights and fog disorienting you, along with shaking, rotating, and undulating floors also meant to keep you off balance. We make it through about 90% of the castle and the kids are having fun ...very little fear involved. Then, just as we rounded a corner, a door popped open and a gust of wind scared Janice so badly that she screamed like crazy for like five seconds (a pretty long ...

... famous building in Barcelona, the La Sagrada Familia, which i will tell you about later. But in the meantime, this park is also built in his amazingly unique artistic way. Its a style which is totally unexplainable, you will have to wait a couple of days to see the photos, but its very distinguishable. The park is located on top of a huge hill overlooking the city, and features include some beautiful mosaic sitting areas, a school (he was very big on education), and some ...

Trip to La Sagrada Familia

... begin to dream something like this up, then know how to build it. I took about one hundred pictures and there is no way I can fit them all into this travel blog. If I can find a way though, I will definitely try. On Saturday, we took an excursion to the Torres Winery and Montserrat. We'll have pictures of more details on that soon. It's hard to keep up on the blogs with our busy schedules, but hang in there and we'll get you caught up. Best, Kevin and Jaclyn

Historic Barcelona

... as well as the famous Christopher Columbus statue (2 of his voyages to America began here). Barcelona has it all; great restaurants to suit every taste, friendly (but smokey!) bars and lots of clean, interesting neighborhoods to explore on foot. The influence of their native son Gaudi is evident in the architecture of many buildings. And the 1992 Summer Olympics venues are ...

Easter in Spain? Si!

... and we headed back to the hostel. We woke up in the morning in time for breakfast (which we had missed the day before) and then checked out and stored our bags in the luggage room (as we didn't fly out until 9pm). We then headed out to La Pederra, an apartment building designed by Gaudi. We took a look at some apartments and then an exposition on his work, we then went up to the roof of the building which is a marvel or statues and twisting designs. If Gaudi was ...

Barcelona...after naptime

After recovering from our overnight train, we were able to go out and really see the city of Barcelona. And we unanimously agree that we love it here! First of all, the weather is beautiful. No more 95 degree days...70s with a breeze, it´s wonderful! Also, our hotel is in a prime location, right in the middle of everything. (It is also nice and big and has AC!) Las Ramblas is the main ...

All inspiring Gaudi!

... sculptures of people and Jesus being crusified. Kinda square blocky type jaggered surfaces. Actually i really like the different look. Another peice of perfection from Gaudi. Once inside, it was all open as it had not had a proper roof installed on it yet. Huge constructions though on the inside. From here we found some pub type of place and had a few Yuros's and then back to the hostel - we've all orgnaised a bit of a card playing party for tonight :o)

Experimenting with different lifestyles

... for the older one, I've got time, eventually she'll have to decide to stop acting miserable. Now that I've been here for a little while I'm starting to learn my way around I am looking for things to do with myself during the couple of free hours I have in the morning. A little ironic isn't it? 2 Months out of the university and I'm dying to have some classes to go to. I found a salsa class that I can go to, which is very pleasing. There are a ton of language schools in the town ...
