Shastri Market Chowk Jalandhar, Punjab, India, 000000
... situated on the bank of the river Sarsa. Here Guru Gobind Singh decided to make a brief halt for the morning religious congregation. Earlier he had vacated fortress of Anandpur Sahib after Mughal army commander had promised to allow them to leave the fort unmolested. But he broke the oath taken on holy Quran and attacked the Guru on the bank of this river. Many devoted Sikhs laid down their lives while fighting the enemy. The Guru himself ...
Jalandhar, India bipodx... he was well on the road to recovery... sadly not!! When we took him back to the in laws we had a serious crash with a bus, which sped away from the scene as it was in the wrong! Luckily we escaped with minor injuries and the smashed up car we were using wasn't our 4x4! I was a little shaken up, but all in all, even after that episode, I think everyone had a gd time today.
Jalandhar, India nikgill... in the middle of a huge square tank of holy water with white stone walkways running on all 4 sides. It was beautifully lit up at night and was really an amazing sight. We walked around the edge as people prayed and bathed in the water. The next day we had a lazy start since we had been up at the crack of dawn for most of the previous days, and we were just walking out to go get breakfast when we spotted some idiotic looking backpackers in orange headscarves ...
Amritsar, India joannanathan... was starved. I called Soma and he turned up from where ever he had been, and Thai returned at around 3pm. I ate some food but was still feeling pretty bad, I have a really sour throat. I had a call from the travel agent, she said I needed to fax her a copy of my booking confirmation, so Soma took me up to Nakodar. I picked up my photo's of Rangla Punjab and then we spent ...
Nawa Pind, Nakodar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... video sums it all up! I stayed out there for about an hour before the heat got too much for me. I caught up with travelogues from the last few days. At 6pm we decided to venture out in to Nakodar, Soma, Gagan and I all went on the bullet. I ran into Dip while we were up there, it was nice to see him but he was preoccupied so we just left him to it. We went off for a bite to eat and by the time we got back to Pind it was dark. Baba Moti's is nearly done ...
Nawa Pind, Nakodar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... around 6pm, Gautham had been saying we would have lunch together but he was in and out of the office all day so by the time we got around to it, it was gone 6pm, yeah funny time for lunch, but just like everything else in India-it was super late! We went to Subway and I got some subs for everyone at home. I got back to Basti around 7pm and have just been chilling all evening.
Jalandhar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... t beg for food, think they just wanted some friends). We had bought some lovely fresh wholemeal bread, cheese, salad and fruit and enjoyed our picnic - shame we didn't have any wine, but we can't have everything. The weather is changeable - one minute brilliant sunshine and blue skies, the next minute thunderstorms and rain, but we're so happy to be out of the 45 degrees heat of Rajasthan.
McLeod Ganj, India worldofbintang... do now. I think they all know it's near the end of the road, uncle was adamant he wanted to return home, I guess he just wants to be around his family for how ever long he has left. I want to stay here and help uncle in any way I can, that means I will be here longer than I originally anticipated, I was supposed to be flying back to Bangkok on the 29th of April I cancelled that date earlier today. I am going off line for a while and the RTW is on hold until further notice...
Jalandhar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... I made a chapatti. I think I was very brave. This entailed flattening the dough, then placing the raw dough on a tea cozy and pushing it under the lip of a very hot clay urn shaped oven. It took finesse. We began to feel like excess baggage after the umpteenth visit to yet another 'friend's home', restaurant and/or bar, where upon I was the only female anywhere to be seen. Every place with another explanation as to why I was there... Even the staff were men. In ...
Jalandhar, India judith.boudreau... sexually assaulted by a monk not too long ago. The other morning I wandered into my usual morning-coffee cafe and met the Englishman I'd chatted to on my first morning here. He's been here five months and rents a studio-type room from a local family. As I sat down at his table, I asked how he was doing. "Fine", he said. "I've just been learning how to rape nuns." "ExCUSE me?!" I thought I must have misheard. "F*ck nuns", he clarified. When I asked him ...
