    ... ever before, our luggage was also there so we headed off to pick up our Alamo rental car. Even that was a cinch. Not even 15 minutes and we had our jeep loaded and headed off to Cape Coral. But alas not everything was easy. We needed over an hour to reach Alligator Alley. The I-75 North was one huge traffic jam which caused us to travel an extra hour.     After some online reconnaissance we ventured into the city today for a look around. We drove to a local train station and had no trouble buying day passes from a vending machine for €6 each. Parking was a little drama - the 'park n ride' we drove into closed at 9pm and there was a chance we'd be back later than that.     ... the finish line where the people have to run through a forest of hanging live wires!

    And other such madness.

    This was the fourth time Manuel had done the Tough Mudder (crazy person!) but this was the first time he was able to complete every one of the obstacles. I think he was pretty chuffed.

    That afternoon we headed back to Bremen to Manuel's apartment and met his wife Janna, his 2 year old Reinald and his 3 week old Marvin.

    ... and so far have confirmed one reason for the route's popularity - it's flat. One description of the Elberadweg says " easily managed by children"! It's also beautiful with plenty of good, reasonably priced accommodation. The prevailing westerly winds and the interesting landscape on the side going up the river means that travelling upstream is recommended.
