Mexico lindo

4 new tires and a tank of gas and away we go

... until Alpine. we saw the marfi lights and where going to see them tonight. On the way back yesterday when we were coming to the rv mamaw got pulled over by the cops. She was going a little too fast, but was only warned! Papaw might be doing all the driving from now on.

I have questions to answer from Carlene and Aunt Cindy, but i will do that tomorrow, when I have more time!!

When a tire blows - you stop!

... rv, waiting for help. . At 7:50 someone came to help change the tire. Papaw cooked dinner in the microwave while we waited. . I lost my tooth while eating a piece of candy. We limped into Laredo and stayed in the walmart parking lot our first night. They came back to finish the tire at 7:45 a.m. the next morning. We walked to burger king for breakfast, then we had to buy 4 more tires.

The Day Before...

... to a taxi stand. I hadn't been to Nuevo Laredo in probably around 5 years or so, and I had heard it had become very dangerous. But everything was fine and went very smoothly. After a $5 cab ride to the Bus Station, we got our tickets and waited to board. The bus station was very nice, and the buses are too. I am really surprised how easy it was to get over into Mexico, and wonder if we may actually have more trouble getting back into the states. -Homero - Nuevo Laredo, Mexico

... chairs and a nice fireplace. This town was pretty peacefull until the trains pulled through at all hours of the night and day, hooting their loud horns at the level crossings. Next stop was Amistead lake near Del Rio Where we stayed a night for $4 on the lake, the wind was blowing so we moved on again the next day, heading South East along the border. We hit Laredo on the 23rd and inched our way through ...

Leaving Laredo

... of the way to the panhandle and beyond. About five miles up the road on 83 we spotted a bike and rider by the side of the road so we stopped to see if there was anything we could do. He had a flat tire on the rear of his Harley Davidson and was talking on a cell phone when we pulled up. He told us that he had already phoned the Harley shop in Laredo and they were on their way. That was a good thing because there wasn't ...

Mexican Border

... to see if it was there and if not hang around for the next. In addition to this stress all the books told me to get our Mexican tourist cards before getting on the bus but the Mexican Tourist Office in Houston didn't exist, so we went to the Mexican Consulate before the Greyhound station which was absolute chaos and they didn't even seem to know what the tourist card was so somehow we ended up applying for a visa until deciding that was ridiculous and we'd take our ...

In seach of Frontera

... any debris still on it. Next time. Everything was going well and I hit the Columbia Bridge at 7:25 to find cones and barricades everywhere and the bridge closed. I knew it was not a 24 hour crossing, but Friday is still a weekday for most folks and I didn't evenconsider that the bridge might not be open. I talked to a security guard and who told me that the bridge didn't open until "ocho". When I parked my bike he started telling me in Spanish that I counldn't park ...

Sunday Round Two

... and tell them to wait for me. I was pretty exhausted and totally blew the section. I told the guys, "I don't care anymore, I just don't want a DNF!" Now I believed I at least had a chance to finish and tried my best to calm down. It must have worked because I got to section seven and rode it clean! Now I just needed to get back to the scoring table before 12:30 and turn in my score card. Luckily, I was able to follow the pink tape and stay on the loop and not lose anymore time. As I ...

Time to cross the border- What a beaut

... gunfight before, could have done the whole runny/ divey thing you see in the movies, where no one is killed or seriously injured beyond grazed knees, but the baddies (obviously the drug dealers in this case) see the error of their ways and vow to clean up the streets an stuff. Then again maybe I have an overactive imagination, and shouldnt spend too long in dangerous cities?
