    ... The only negative is that animal sacrifices are performed daily here, as in the Kamakhya temple in Guwahati. I carefully chose a time to visit the temple when there would be no sacrifices. The lake is nice and clean and full of tortoises and fishes. Part of the ritual is to feed muri (puffed rice) to them ! Very Bengali tradition.

    The experience here is just unbelievable. The beach is very clean and it has numerous shacks and hotels to stay in, price ranges starting from a meagre 50-100 Rs per head. Hotel Gokarn international and Sunset Cafe are very good places to stay at. Although you find a lot of cows on the beach, you can do absolutely nothing here and still enjoy.
