      ... however, the surrounding countryside is pretty - vineyards everywhere and distant snow covered mountains. We detoured to Desenzano on the banks of Lake Garda. Clearly a summer holiday town but a beautiful town situated on the shores of a huge lake. The water is crystal clear.       Well from the outside of city there is a breathtaking view of the upper town but once you are in it I woudn't say the same. Still there is plenty to see wandering around the streets and lots of lovely churches to explore. But it's definitely not the best medieval town in Italy.

      ... wonderful out of the way restaurant called la Tavernetta da ELIO for lunch.

      The waiter was great and it was another lovely experience. Craig had much better Zucci di Fiore (zucchini flowers) and they had cheese and anchovies in them – he was happy!
