A Surprise Visit

... rum and playing in the water (not so sure about that combination, but...) The water was cool but not cold, perfectly clear, and a beautiful blue-green color. We were told that Scuba divers had been unable to find the bottom of the pool. It's not that wide across, but apparently it's just a straight shot down to who-knows-where.

Some of the locals were jumping from the high cliffs, and that is something that Shen just can't resist. Fancy-Pants on the Cheap

... were shocked - shocked! - that the terrace-level rooms were $15 for the two of us. The rooms are basic and the terrace isn't well-maintained, but we walked out of our room to a wide expanse of ocean and a little beach off to the side. Really, the hotel made my week.

As soon as we checked in we headed back out for Playa Grande, supposedly one of the prettiest beaches in the area. It's hard to know how ...

... pass us by around Thursday afternoon, thanks in advance, Bill. It rained all night last night, and looks like Thursday will be a wet day as well.
I'm attaching a very recent pic of my little one, taken last week. I think she's learning to play the piano in my absence, and definitely growing up too fast while mommy is away.
Take care. Hope you are all well-
Love,
Lani
Surfing in the Carribean

... arguing, and a shopping freak like my little friend, she was the only sober minded person to protect our finances. She determinately said 500. A serious bargaining ensued. He went into the whole trouble of explaining how much the empty CD costs, and what margin he pays to his firm and that he also needs to get smth for his work. I really wanted to pay and get it over with. She was adamant we won't pay more than 1000 cos that is how much those discs would be worth in the ...

Kitesurfing Capital of the Carribean

... had just stopped and was sitting in the water with my kite at 12:00 and about to takeoff to the right. Without me knowing, another beginner directly upwind of me body dragged towards me with an instructor holding his back. He lost control and crashed his kite right into mine and took it down. His kite was ripped and his lines just a few meters in front of me. And my kite on the water dragged me into his lines! I was worried to get tangled into his lines but ...

Settling In

... come in." They do this whether you are a friend, family member, neighbor, or complete and total stranger. They could have no idea who you are or what you want, but they never fail to invite you in to sit down. It is such a different culture from that of the US. We would never invite a stranger to sit down and chat for a while, but here it is perfectly normal and expected. Sometimes it is a bit awkward and I have sat for more than a ...
