... but Kate didn't seem to find it funny. Took it slowly coming down the other side. We thought we were over the worst of it, but before we could relax we started climbing again with the snow getting heavier. ... It had cobblestone streets and very old houses (some of them in ruins) and many still had occupants. From the village, you could see two other villages below it down the side of the mountain. It was up so high and everything about it was steep. We couldn't imagine how they would get the materials up there to build a house, or even get their groceries up there... especially when it was snowing. ... but OK until this morning, when the sun came out and the ski fields called. www.valnord.com is better than any of our photos. Immense place, and great skiing. Enough said. Tonight (29th) back for another go at the buffet, and then head back to the UK tomorrow, via overnight train.
Have a work for accom (HelpX) job in Cornwall starting Jan 2nd, so will let you know how things go.
