We were planning to go to Liechtenstein but thought we may as well as it was sort of on our way. It's the worlds 6 smallest country so it would have been rude not to go..haha.

We didn't drive to the main town but to another.. where really there wasn't anything. I did get a photo with the tourist sign though. Had to somehow prove I'd been there!

Obersaxen, Switzerland acgwhale... Feldkirch I got lost. Actually I was just trying to get to McDonald's because the group wanted a bathroom break and the public toilets here were not to our standards. Anyway, I drove past the McDonald's twice - once my fault and once the navigator's - and drove down a pedestrian only section of road before we gave up and continued on our journey out of town and deeper into Austria.
Feldkirch, Austrian Alps, Austria travelingdiva... entire train goes the same route! Can you believe it? How amazing! More importantly, the train cars are fairly similar. So, what does the extra buy? There are just fewer people in the car, which actually is nice. The bottom line though is don't bother to reserve first class.

We head out from Chur at 12:13. The schedule has us arriving in Zermatt at 6:00 pm. The time goes by quickly because there is so much to look at, or in my case... not look at. Being afraid of ...
Chur, Swiss Alps, Switzerland lafalot... building, and the government building. This area looks very modern but blends well into the surrounding mountains and old houses and buildings.

It was a sunny day but a bit chilly. I decided the best way to warm up was to hike up to the castle. I started walking up a steep hill that I thought would lead me to the castle. It passed through a beautiful residential area and eventually ended at a trail head. Perfect! From there I ...
Vaduz, Liechtenstein travelingdiva... hiking trails that we explored after checking into our hotel. We had not originally thought of Chur as an interesting destination because I had merely booked a night here so that we could catch the scenic Glacier Express train from here the next morning. It was actually quite a nice city and not crowded at all. Some of the views from the hiking trails were as nice as anyone could hope for. I read ...
Chur, Switzerland worldtraveller9... a look around the oldest city in Switzerland. Across the road another hotel was entertaining its guests with strains of a yodelling choir. After a short walk around the older part of town it started to rain and we quickly returned to the Hotel. Lucky we did as we then experienced one of the heaviest downpours we have ever known, not including Papua New Guinea !!!
The rain cleared what had been a very heavy atmosphere, and facilitated a very good night's sleep ...
Chur, Swiss Alps, Switzerland ankorjuglor... something Germany lacked. We ate our lunch as we strolled having bought sandwiches and rolls at a servo before we came here. We then realised that we had had breakfast in Germany, morning tea in Switzerland and lunch in Austria. No doubt we would be having dinner in Switzerland that night. We failed to stop in Liechenstein to complete the dining experience although I was informed later that L took a sip of water from her bottle as we motored through. It was very difficult ...
Chur, Switzerland brianc... surprise around every corner you turn. I found a small (really out of the way) cemetery, apparently Jewish. I went back to get Bev so she could see it, too. I got some great shots. (Shirley should be happy.)

The time to head back to Davos came all too soon. Once again, we traveled the back roads, this time by bus, and the scenery was just as awesome as it was on our train trip coming up this morning. We traveled up to the 6,000 ft. level, up and down and all around the ...
St. Moritz, Swiss Alps, Switzerland pemalak... in clouds, so we were unable to see the valley below during dinner...too bad. Dinner was excellent. It consisted of appetizers (I’m not a big fan); the main course, which was beef & gravy with noodles and potatoes in a cream sauce, green beans and ham... and (the best part) DESSERT! The dessert table was out of this world...cheeses, plum cake, walnut & shortcake pie, warm plums with ice cream, and (yes!) warm STRUDEL with a cream topping. WOW! Europeans ...
