We took breakfast in the throne room - as you do. We are getting a bit sick of cheese and ham but still eating it. We were sad to leave our royal palace. We had gotten used to the regal atmosphere. This was a treat stay for us. We booked a taxi and went for one last stoll before travelling. We enjoyed our garden and of course took more castle photos before getting into the taxi to travel to Trento to catch ...

... to meet. After securing a map we set off down the road towards the smaller of the 2 lakes in this area. We loved that this was all downhill. We kept checking the map but somehow we did not take a track and ended up high above the lake on a road to the other end of the lake. Sue was foraging on the way there and ...

... We did then decide to take the train home. It was a 37 min train ride. When we took the bike back there taunting us was ladies cruiser ebikes and helmets. Bryan got a thump for that. We arrived home exhausted, hungry, burned, scratched and sweaty but full of a sense of accomplishment. Richards says that is one heck of recovery ride after Stelvio the day before. A quick shower and it still was after 9 before we ate. When the sun sets at 10 pm you tend to lose track of ...

After lunch we visited Runkelstein Castle, a medieval fortress built in the 1200's. It's main claimm to fame is the large number of period frescos painted about 100 years later. After various periods of disuse and damage, the castle and frescos were restored for public viewing in 2000.

What at made the biggest impression on me were the references to King Arthur and his knights of the round table. There ...
