After a long 12 and a half hour flight we arrived at KL airport at 6.30pm. We took the shuttle bus into the city, to catch the tube into Chinatown. Our hotel should have been easy to find (as we had a map & it was right next to the station) however it was hidden amongst the busiest market we've ever seen. So instead we spent an hour carrying our backpacks around Chinatown, whilst promising touts "yes we will be back to buy your dvd's and rolex watches, just as soon as we find our hotel". ...
Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia aliandvickyOur flight over was much more comfortable than anticipated as we were upgraded to emergency aisle seats- a sign of things to come methinks! arrived in KL and made our way to our hotel which was in the middle of a busy market in china town. the hotel was ok, but if you ever stay at the China Town Inn make sure you dont stay on the ground floor, the noise of the printer going all night and gobby people phoning home at 5 in the morning was a bit grating! We loved the hustle and bustle of china t...
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia bokandpaulAfter a very cold night bus we arrived in Kuala Lumpur at around 6am. We headed towards Chinatown where we had a reservation at a hotel (Hotel China Town Inn) and luckily they let us check in straight away. So we went straight back to sleep until 10am! Then it was time for a bit of an explore. We headed towards Times Square Mall and ended up spending most of the day there at the cinema, bowling or looking round the shops. That evening we looked around Chinatown and headed to Little India for ...
Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia elliotandcarlaIn KL we did the things that a proper tourist is suppsed to do; we went up to the bridge between the Petronas twin towers (bridge is at 170 m, towers themselves are 452 m; you all know them, the 2nd talles buildings in the world since 2004) and went up to the KL Tower (total hight 421 m, we've been at 276 m; the 4th highest radio tower in the world). The views were of course spectacular! You'll get a few pictures but of course they don't do justice to the actual view. And of course we visited...
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ipalo20080330 KL hustle & bustle Our plan was to spend 3 nights in Kuala Lumpur (KL) which would give us a change to do a little shopping and plan the next few days of travel. Using our trusty shoestring guidebook we checked into a highly recommended hotel in the centre of KL´s Chinatown. As the bus from the airport dropped us off at the entrance to Chinatown the sights, sounds and smell overwhelmed us. The main road through Chinatown was alive with little shops selling anything you can possi...

Well i didnt leave Melaka yesterday as planned.
I ended up in the Julan Julan hostel but there was no air conditioning and on 6 fans for 8 beds ... so i asked him if he had a private room and he did so i ended up paying 20myr (less than 4 pounds) for a double private room with my own fan. I got up late again and went for a walk abouttown which was really nice and then came back to the hostel to cool down and then went out again with some ...
... Tower only looked a block or two away. Thirty sweaty minutes later we were still trailing up a hill leading to the tower, and then a free shuttle service to the tower entrance itself -but first a free guided tour of the Reserve. Quite an exclusive group of five people, a young Dutch couple, an Australian lady of about our age, and ourselves; together with Raj, who would soon be seen to be a contender for Malaysia's most profilic talker award, albeit ...
Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia ironinkentGrotty overnight train to Kuala Lumpur. Made a Malasian lady friend who gave me some earrings : ) Obvs I slept straight through the journey but Gerogia and Nicki went delirious with sleep deprivation and slept on Stonehenge in KL Lake Gardens for a couple of hours. 6 hours later were finally let in our rooms and slept some more ...

Roti canai with egg
We also ate a lack-lustre version of roti canai, which featured egg mixed into the batter. It was a bit dry for our tastes, and the scrambled egg didn't do much for us by way of flavour. Boo...

The highlight of ...
... was too big and too noisy and too hectic and the people weren't friendly enough and basically I just wanted to be done with it. But, I knew I still had to do a few things. So, I decided I would go to the Batu Caves, a place with temples inside these huge caves that is supposed to be something that everyone must do in Kuala Lumpur. No buses run there, so I had to take a taxi. The public transportation really sucks here. There are hardly any buses. There is a monorail, but it just ...
