The Big Apple!

We arrived in New York City for our last stop on our trip from Vegas via Phoenix. The flight took around 5 hours, which we passed by playing many games of cards! It was about midnight when we arrived in NY so we got our bags and then headed to the Airtrain to take us to the nearest subway station in order to get to the hotel. The subway journey …

I wonder what it is about security, and border control, that makes me a target. Answers on a postcard, please. Upon arrival at JFK, following the fingerprint scans and whatnot, I was ushered into an office due to a "mismatch". I had no problems on my previous visits. I am still not really sure what happened. They checked through my visa and my …

Breakfast at Tasty's, around the corner from our hotel: snotty eggs, for those who had them, and plastic cutlery, but otherwise nice. I had some scrumptious French Toast.

First stop: Time’s Square. We needed to go pick up some tickets, though we initially headed in the wrong direction and bumped into the Flatiron building along the …

Today was mostly about the shopping. Our hotel was just off 5th Avenue, on East 31st Street. After breakfast, we stepped onto 5th Avenue and walked our way up towards Central Park, pausing to visit stores, or look at and snap pictures of buildings, churches, ornate doorways, etc., as they took our fancy.

First major stop was the New York …

Sorry folks, I apologise for the distinct lack of updates on this blog! I will not apologise for enjoying my trip, however. We have been leaving the hotel at 8am, and not returning until very late - tonight 1am! :O/ Rest assured, we are packing it all in and are having a fabulous time :O) I'll share it all with you on the way home, or even when I …

    A Pleasant Change

    from anonymous

I stayed 2 nights, beautiful boutique hotel, stayed in the deluxe room, beautiful but small, with queen bed, gorgeous bath. Bath robes for use and aveda products a plus, I usually never use hotel bath products, pleasant staff. The hotel is really cool but if you want quiet, forget it, you will definitely hear the city, hotel is relatively quiet, could not hear anyone once they were in their rooms. Overall, I would definitely stay there again. I can say this was my best hotel experience.

    Elegant if overheated

    from pumpernickel

We stayed 6 nights at Le Marquis in mid-May mostly because of the positive reviews we'd read on this site. Our room, purchased through Orbitz, was rather small for a "superior" room (finding room for our luggage was a problem) and it was overheated to the point where we had to turn the a/c on high to experience a comfortable temperature. Note that this was a very cold and wet May for NYC. The furnishings are of good quality, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom was perhaps the best feature. Another outstanding feature was the guest lounge off the lobby with big-screen T.V. and free videos as well as free high-speed internet access on the one computer which was never occupied when we wished to use it. The staff was fairly friendly but they were obviously dismayed when we told them we could carry our luggage to our room without their assisstance. We did on 2 occassions tip the bellhop to call us a taxi when we were in a rush but otherwise we made do for ourselves. We never ate breakfast in the hotel because, as this is New York, even one disappointing meal is one too many in a city of such fabulous restaurants. We did pop into the tiny bar one evening for a cocktail but the bartender was rather indifferent to us preferring to focus her attention on a drunk but well-tipping regular having a mid-life crisis.

Great things come in small packages!!

Comfort, Quality, and Class are the words that come to mind when describing the Le Marquis. We spent three nights at the hotel after getting married. The service was wonderful; our room was generously upgraded as we arrived in our wedding attire. With its prime location and gorgous decor, I would recommend the hotal to anyone looking for a one-of-a-kind getaway!!!

    Enjoyed Le Marquis

    from anonymous

We just came back from a 4 day trip to NYC and loved ourstay at Le Marquis. The hotel room was not very large, but fit all ofour stuff in anda queen bed. Comparable in size to a European hotel. The service wasoutstanding, they turned down the bed at night and provided Avedatoiletry products! We didn't eat in the hotel because $15 for breakfastwas a little overpriced, but theBrooklyn Bagel Cafe was a block away and was delicious and cheap. Onlycomplaint was we could hear noisy guests in the hallways when they comein from the clubs, but it wasn't a big problem because we could not hearthem once they were in their rooms. The location is outstanding forsightseeing. It is not on a busy street, but is mere seconds away fromthe Empire State Building and minutes away from beautiful Bryant Parkand a walk to Times Square. It was nice to be off the beaten trackcompared to some hotels in the midst of noise and traffic. Would goback in a minute.

    Good Service, Small Hotel

    from rabid_traveller

Just returned back from a 5 day New York holiday. The Marquis hotel is very well presented, and as others have said well appointed with good robes and great bathroom products. The hotel rooms are small though, and for some reason very hot. We had the aircon running full time, and this is March, so I wouldnt like to think what the rooms are like in high summer. We moved room after the first night due to there being 2 singles rather than 1 double bed which we had requested. The staff handled the issue quickly and professionally. All the staff we met were great hosts and I don't begrudge paying a doorman to get a taxi as they will go to great lengths to track one down at busy times.Small but good hotel, great location, fantastic staff...just dont be afraid to ask for a bigger room!

    Loved New York

    from anonymous

We stayed at Le Marquis for three nights. The staff is friendly and the room adequate, but small. We found NYC to be very expensive, and the door staff, etc. are a bit pushy regarding tips for doing things like calling cabs. In fact, we found out from the cab driver that the doorman collected from us and from the driver for calling a cab.

    Small room, but beautiful bath

    from anonymous

Le Marquis is a nice hotel, beautifully located in the heart of Manhattan. Although the entrance hall is much more spacious and elegant than the rooms, I can recommend the hotel, mainly because of the really very nice bathrooms providing excellent Aveda products. There seems to be a great variety concerning the rooms space, ask for bigger rooms if you think your room is too small ! Be aware of being located near the elevators, they are very noisy ! Staff is very friendly and helpful, breakfast is def. not a must !

    Very nice place!

    from anonymous

Nicely decorated rooms - very tasteful and hip, not to mention lots of space for NYC. Very soft linens and a down comforter. Nice, huge shower with a floor-to-ceiling glass door. Friendly staff. All in all very comfortable. Plus a good location near Empire State Building, Fifth Avenue, Broadway and walking distance to Times Square. I was very impressed with this place, especially considering the relatively low rate. A good choice.

    Top-Notch Hospitality and Personalized Service

    from anonymous

Wow! I can honestly say I've never stayed in a hotel like this before! When they refer to their customers as "guests, " they really mean it! I couldn't believe the quality of the bath products (I brought my own, but theirs were even better! Quite a switch from the usual hotel brands...) And the linens were exquisite! I can't remember when I had such a good night's sleep in a hotel room! The best thing about Le Marquis, though, was their top-notch hospitality and personalized service. They treated us as if we'd been personally invited by them to come and visit the city! I will most assuredly stay here again!

    Cooool place in hot city

    from anonymous

Mmmm, I liked this place. Beautiful room with top-of-the-line linens and the rosemary-mint Aveda shampoo I use at home!! There was a DVD player and it also played my homemade CD-RW's, which was a BIG bonus! Everyone was really helpful AND in the know. I asked for recommendations for a Sex & the City-style restaurant and club and was really happy with my evening.
