... being cropped. The area is a real food bowl. First stop was the Snow Monkey Park (minus the snow). The private tour for 4 continues. Quite cool, brilliant sunny day. A lovely walk through the forest for about 40 minutes before the hot springs pools where they tend to congregate. Just before the entrance there is various Onsen out in the open - would take a lot of courage to trot your private bits out for full display! While the monkeys ...

... now but is still good fun as you get to walk among them as they pick fleas off themselves or eat food that is left by the park caretakers. Unfortunately, when I got to the main gate, I was informed that there were no monkeys in the park as they had all gone into the mountains where there are nuts available and also because it is mating season, supposedly. ... Walked down to Shibu onsen. People walking from bath to bath wearing Yukata and Japanese shoes. Finally made it back to the ryokan. Put on our Yukata and shoes and walked to a nearby onsen. It was very hot, could only put legs in, Philip squirted cold water on us to help . Went for dinner , then back to the ryokan. Tatami and futons, tiny rice filled pillows.
