... The parade is accompanied by musicians in traditional Japanese costumes, quite an interesting and colorful event. The elephant made of paper is very large and being pulled by the boys with help of adults. We watch them parade around the Yubatake and go up the old, stone staircase to the Temple. We take a closer look at the Yubatake where the water gushes down day in day out, 4.000 liters of hot water per minute!

... descend and after seeing threatening clouds it finally starts to rain. Kusatsu is located at about 1200 meters and there is a lot of greenery everywhere. The GPS takes us straight to the hotel, no problems there! Hotel Village, located just outside of the village of Kusatsu. ... dinner served in our room and it's our last night in Japan. Tomorrow we head home for Australia. This has been another amazing trip to Japan for us. Some people have asked why keep heading to Japan when there are so many other places to see. For us it is a no brainer, copious amounts of snow, amazing food, incredible people and only one flight away. ... stopped at a supermarket and we're blown away at how cheap fruit/vegetables, meat and fresh sashimi fish is. No wonder the Japanese eat so well. The temple and shrines were beautiful but it was pretty cold walking around.
