Excitement today as the first trip on the Shinkansen to Nagano up in the mountains where the Winter Olympics were held in 1998. Correct pronunciation is Nag...an..o. But first we have to do a train transfer from Shinagawa to Tokyo at peak hour! First leg easy as we knew Shinagawa and were surprised to see the station almost deserted, guess it is because most of the commuters are using the Metro. Get to Tokyo Station and different story, crazy crowded and hard to find ...

We started the day in Tokyo, enjoying a fabulously luxurious room service breakfast at the Park Hyatt. Again, the staff does not disappoint with one of the ...

Its a 4 hour bus ride from Tokyo to Nagano. We take the bus over the train, as the Shinkansen is not cheap, and i have never driven on the roads in Japan, so it will be a good experience. The bus is as punctual as the train and departs on time to the minute. The drive has plenty of beautiful country side and snow capped alps. We one stop once at a rest stop for 15 minutes, which is enough to stretch the legs. The driver tells us ...

He screamed a bit because he was caught up and couldn’t get out but was OK. Sinead lost about 5 years from her life and managed to untangle him. That ...
