Hello again, beautiful weather again today (Wednesday). Took a train along the coast past Monte Carlo down to Cannes. The Canes Yachting Festival was on.  Hopefully have attached a photo - you might be able to see some of the boats in the background.   We had planned to go to Toulon, but needed to change trains etc. and we weren't sure if we had the time. Just about ready to ...

We moved down the French Riviera a little ways last night to Cannes...yes, the film festival city. From the water it looks much like Nice...lots of big private yachts and large hotels that extend to the city but this place has sandy beaches.

Woke up bright and early, bound and determined to be on time for once! We had breakfast delivered to the room and we were on for an 8:15 departure to Cannes, then Monaco.

We left once the band finished as we need to catch the tram back up to our hostel. That night we booked scuba diving!! It wasn't until 2 so in the afternoon we made our way to the beach to chill in the sun before heading to the dive. We got there and hopped on the boat. The boat ride itself was ...

... out the numerous piles of customs forms/declarations, for each one of my 5 pre-paid, 7 kilo, boxes. I only have my boxes weighing around 5 kilos each.... much easier to lift and handle getting them back to the post. Golly, I tell you, they want to know every little thing that is in each box, how much it weighs, where it was bought, what I paid for it, and finally its value. Ugh! Now, with 4 boxes, completed, it averaged out to a little over an hour per box. The 5th box only ...

... that they won't try and speak to you in English when they can speak the language was not what we found at all and its amazing how much you can get by with a few phrases and a big smile on your face. Throwing in that you are from NZ, not England or America, definitely helps and mentioning the All Blacks to a French man is a definite winner!

So onto walking the five villages, the world heritage site of Cinque Terra in Italy.
