... It was St. Tropez. We had done a lot of things in France except swam in the sea, today it had to be done. Clear blue but freezing, I kept telling myself it would get warmer, however it didn't. ... evergreen and flower in the winter time. The region is always sweet smelling hence it's claim to fame as the "perfume" leader. We couldn't figure out how you would get to the top of the village as it would be impossible to drive a car up! Except walking of course! Boy it was hot and 32 degrees climbing the very steep streets. Lucky I am fitter so I was ok! We the had free time and had to meet back at the bus later. There were two other Aussies on our tour so we headed to a local bar ...
... the last fiasco. But this was another day where we seemed to be endlessly driving and not able to park anywhere.
The French generally seem to eat at about 12.30 – 1pm and then retire full of cheese till about 4pm. Supermarkets close for 2 hours in smaller places which seems odd to us.
Oh well, things are ticking along. The weather is cooler now we are heading for the Dordogne to meet up with friends. Home in about a week or so. See you all ...
I woke at 7am to the steady thrum of the dredging ship hoovering up sand 50 metres off shore and pumping it back up on to the beach. I'm not averse to a little land reclamation but this started at 10 pm last night and ended at 7am this morning. Thank you for being so considerate of the day tripper and punishing those that "live" here. All the same, a tremendous job as a whole beach has been replaced in a night and looking at the bigger picture, the right thing was done. ...
... including a well-proportioned woman playing paddle ball on the beach with her boyfriend, topless, as a gaggle of appreciative spectators looked on.
We capped off the day with a drink and snack with Martin’s business partner at the luxurious Hotel Negresco's La Rotonde cafe, complete with dancing dolls and carousel horses that perform, literally, like clockwork, at regular intervals.
